During the 'Landman' cameo, Jerry Jones' emotional speech about the Cowboys went viral.
Some doubt that Jones was performing while speaking alongside Jon Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton.
In "Landman" on Paramount+, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was seen in a hospital scene alongside Jon Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton, causing many to speculate that he was not acting and was genuinely emotional.
In the ninth episode of "Landman," Jones made a cameo and gave a heartfelt speech to Jon Hamm's character, who was in a hospital bed.
It is understandable that Jones appeared, given that his wealth was accumulated through the oil industry and real estate prior to acquiring the Cowboys.
Jones' desire to purchase "America's Team" was motivated by his emotional attachment to the team, as he explained to Hamm's character.
Jones begins his monologue by stating, "I'm not claiming to have made any right decisions, but I have always been determined to work with my kids. They are involved in all aspects of my business, including leasing, oil and gas, and real estate."
"When I acquired the Cowboys, my intention was to facilitate collaboration among us. I believed I was acting for their benefit. However, it turned out that I gained the most from it."
Hamm's character becomes emotional after Jones tells him that he believes the sickness he is dealing with will not take him to the next life, and the Cowboys owner talks about his own family.
Jones said, 'I know it won't happen this time, but you'll be sitting here in the future, surrounded by your business associates and lifelong colleagues. Your children and family will likely be there too because they're your loved ones, the people you've shared your life with, the ones you've worked with, fallen down with, and gotten back up with.'
It's not just about celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas. You want to be with those people all year round. So, when that time comes, it's a celebration of your life and you're not wishing you had spent a little more time seeing a few more suns come up. That's the trick.
"I am proud of the Cowboys and the work we have accomplished in oil and gas. However, nothing compares to the pride I feel in having spent my life working alongside my children."
Jones' journey in oil and gas began with his company in Arkansas, Jones Oil and Land Lease, which flourished. He later invested in Comstock Resources, a company involved in oil and gas exploration. Now, Jones and his family are the biggest shareholders of Comstock Resources Inc.
Jones bought the Cowboys for $140 million on Feb. 25, 1989 and has been proud of his ownership ever since. In his speech, Jones stated that his children play a significant role in the Cowboys' operations.
Despite criticism for his roles as owner, president, and general manager, Jones remains in charge of the team.
Stephen is the chief operating officer, director of player personnel, and co-owner. Charlotte is the chief brand officer and co-owner. Lastly, Jerry Jr. is the chief sales and marketing officer and co-owner.
Despite being on a show, 82-year-old Jones cherishes the fact that his Cowboys have become a family, and family is something he values deeply.
