Draymond Green claims that Klay Thompson was upset with Steph Curry after ghosting him before a game.
The Warriors won over Thompson's Mavs with Curry's 3-pointer.
The Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks faced off on Tuesday, with all eyes on Klay Thompson as he made his return to the Bay Area to play against the team he spent his first 11 seasons with and won four championships.
Draymond Green disclosed that Thompson ignored "Splash Brother" Steph Curry, causing Curry to be upset.
On his "Draymond Green Show," Green disclosed his discussion with Curry about Thompson's representation before the game.
That all changed after Thompson didn’t answer his former teammate.
So, finally, (Tuesday) morning, I texted Steph and told him, 'Listen up, big dog, I need you to be locked in. Whatever it is you need to do, if that's watch this tribute video, I said I'm going to do the same,'" Green said. "By the time Steph came into the game (Tuesday) night, he was furious.
"As soon as I texted him, he called me right away. I tried to stir the pot a little bit, baby. I pissed Steph off because Steph was supposed to speak before the game. He said, "Yeah, I called Raymond Ridder and told him I'm not speaking. I just need to focus on the game, so I'm not even speaking." I tried to check in with Klay about something, and Klay ghosted me. So, he got pissed, and here we go."
In the game, Curry scored a game-high 37 points, including a crucial 3-pointer at the end of the fourth quarter, reprising his "night night" celebration from the Paris Olympics.
Thompson was reportedly yelled at by Curry, who ran to the other end of the court and appeared to say, "You better stay here."
Despite the 120-117 loss, Thompson had a great night, scoring 22 points with four rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes.
"NBA scriptwriters are the best, according to what people say on Twitter and Instagram," Green said.
"Klay Thompson played great, but they lost. That's how we needed the night to go."
Before the game, Curry may have been "p---ed," but after the final buzzer, he and Thompson hugged it out.
Despite the absence of Thompson, the Warriors have maintained their momentum this season, beginning with a 9-2 record. On the other hand, the Mavs have struggled lately, losing their last three games and currently standing at 5-6.
