Ohio State has looked dominant throughout the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff.

The Buckeyes, after defeating Tennessee in the first round, eliminated the top-seeded Oregon Ducks in the quarterfinals. They then advanced to the championship game by defeating Texas in the semifinal.

In the eagerly-awaited championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame, quarterback Will Howard will be positioned at the center.

Although Howard spent four seasons at Kansas State, he entered the transfer portal in 2023. In January 2024, he announced his plans to transfer to Ohio State. Howard had the best regular season of his college career in Columbus, Ohio.

This season, Howard has achieved a career-high of 3,779 yards and 33 touchdowns while playing for Ohio State, despite facing 10 interceptions. Additionally, he has also used his legs to score seven times.

The Buckeyes' roster this year includes Howard, who is vocal about his faith. During Ohio State's victory over Oregon at the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day, Howard openly discussed his beliefs in an on-field interview.

"I must first express my gratitude to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for granting me this opportunity to be on this stage in the Rose Bowl," Howard stated. "The younger version of me would be in awe right now."

After the Buckeyes lost to their top rival Michigan in late November, Howard mentioned his faith when asked about his reaction to the defeat.

"He stated via Columbus news station WCMH, "I sat back and contemplated the opportunity I have here and the experiences I've gone through this year, both the highs and lows, and realized that everything has been for my own good. I am confident that God is placing obstacles in my path to help me grow, and I trust that there is a purpose behind it. I will simply have faith in the plan.""

In his life, he has found that having a strong "faith in God" is advantageous.

"We must rely on the Lord and lean on Him during both good times and bad, as he advised NBC4," he said. "I simply opened my Bible and prayed for guidance, returning to the Lord and asking for help."

"Coming to Him with humility shifts your perspective. I surrender it to Him and declare, 'God, I trust You. Although I don't understand why this occurred, it must have been for a purpose. I will trust it.'"

Several of Howard's Buckeyes teammates arrived at preseason workouts wearing "Jesus Won" T-shirts.

The National Championship game of College Football Playoff will commence at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on January 20th at 7:30 p.m. ET.
