Deion Sanders is resolute that his son Shedeur will be the top pick in the NFL Draft.
The Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year award was given to Sedeur Sanders.
Deion Sanders, the head coach of Colorado, firmly believes that his son Shedeur Sanders will be the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
During an appearance on "The Pacman Jones Show," Deion was questioned about Shedeur's future in the NFL.
Sanders was questioned by Adam "Pacman" Jones, a 12-year NFL veteran, about where he believed "God" would take Shedeur and Travis Hunter.
I have no idea. It depends on who is consistently losing.
Who currently holds the No. 1 overall pick, the New York Giants or Las Vegas Raiders?
Who is the Giants' number-one pick? Jones inquired.
"Shedeur is going to be the number-one pick," Deion responded.
The Giants will not be traded out of the top pick in the draft, according to the Colorado head coach.
Sanders stated that the Giants are not giving up their pick.
A video posted to X showed Giants' general manager Joe Schoen and assistant general manager Brandon Brown at a Colorado practice, likely scouting Shedeur and Hunter.
Both the Giants and Raiders require a franchise quarterback, regardless of who has the top pick.
In November, the Giants released Daniel Jones, and neither Tommy DeVito nor Drew Lock has a contract for the upcoming season.
Despite having Aidan O’Connell and Garnder Minshew under contract for multiple seasons, the Raiders are still considering drafting Shedeur Sanders or Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
If both the Raiders and Giants lose out, the tiebreaker for the number-one overall pick will be based on their strength of schedule.
If either team wins in the final stretch, both teams will fall down the draft board, as five teams with three wins are scheduled to pick ahead of the Raiders and Giants.
This season, Sanders has completed 69.3% of his passes while throwing for 3,926 yards with 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He helped lead Colorado to a 9-3 record, a significant improvement from their 4-8 record last season.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 2024 was won by Sanders, who embodies character, academic, and athletic excellence.
Sanders also was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
The Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28 will feature Colorado playing BYU, with Sanders and Hunter both expected to participate.
