Damar Hamlin of the Bills suffers a concussion after a collision with Tua Tagovailoa of the Dolphins.
After the hit, Tagovailoa, who had suffered three concussions during the 2022 campaign, appeared disoriented.
Tua Tagovailoa, the Miami Dolphins quarterback, experienced another terrifying moment on "Thursday Night Football" when he sustained a concussion following a massive hit from Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.
The medical staff for dolphins needed only six minutes to diagnose Tagovailoa with a concussion after he left the field on his own power.
To keep the drive alive, Tagovailoa stepped up in the pocket and ran past the sticks with the Dolphins needing a touchdown to stay in the game.
Although Tagovailoa passed the first-down line, he continued running and collided with Hamlin in the open field. Hamlin didn't need to do much to bring him down, as Tagovailoa immediately fell to the ground and struck his head on the turf at Hard Rock Stadium.
Tagovailoa picked up the first down, but it seemed to be at the worst cost as he raised his hand for a teammate to pick him up.
The quarterback appeared disoriented and his hand began moving uncontrollably as Dolphins crowded around him. Both the Bills and Dolphins players got down on one knee as medical staff rushed out to assess the situation.
Tagovailoa walked off the field with trainers after talking to him, but was noticeably limping. Instead of going into the blue medical tent, he walked into the locker room with trainers, where they determined he indeed has a concussion.
Despite missing no games in the 2023 season, Tagovailoa's 2022 campaign was marked by three concussions, including one on "Thursday Night Football" against the Cincinnati Bengals, where he was carried off the field on a stretcher.
During the game against the Bills at home, Tagovailoa appeared to sustain a concussion, but it was later determined that he was suffering from a back injury, which caused him to stumble after hitting his head on the ground during a play.
In Week 4, Tagaovailoa was injured against the Bengals and was tossed onto the Paycor Stadium turf in Cincinnati. As a result of his head injury, his fingers curled in a disturbing scene.
Tagovailoa was taken out in a stretcher during a game, and he missed two games before returning in Week 7.
In Week 16, Tagovailoa suffered his third concussion of the season, which left him out of the rest of the year.
During the offseason, the Hawaii native confessed that he had contemplated retirement due to the impact of head injuries on a person's life, as research on CTE had shown. However, he was optimistic going into the previous season and demonstrated this by playing in every game.
Now, we'll see if and when Tagovailoa will pass concussion protocol.
After his injury, Tagovailoa threw three interceptions, one of which was returned for a pick-six, and one touchdown to De'Von Achane.
