Brock Purdy's future with the 49ers is uncertain after a disappointing season.
Since 2020, the 49ers have failed to make the playoffs.
The 49ers had a challenging season, which affected Brock Purdy's performance as a starter.
Despite not being hindered by injury issues across the offense, particularly with Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk, Purdy's performance was worse in 2024 compared to the previous season.
In 2023, he threw for 400 fewer yards, went from 31 to 20 touchdowns, and threw one more interception (12) than he did in 2023. His QB ratings dropped from 107.3 and 113.0 to 96.1.
Despite missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2020 season, general manager John Lynch intends to retain Purdy.
"Lynch stated on Wednesday that Brock is our guy and we want him to stay with us for a long time. He has contributed greatly to our organization and has played well even during tough times. Despite the challenges we faced this year, Brock remained a leader and played at a high level. Therefore, we are interested in keeping him around."
As the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy's base salary this past season was less than $1 million. However, he could see a significant increase in his market value, with Spotrac estimating his annual worth at $59.7 million, which would be the highest in the league.
According to the site, he could potentially receive a four-year contract worth approximately $239 million, surpassing the deals of Kyler Murray, Deshaun Watson, Tua Tagovailoa, Jordan Love, and Jared Goff.
If he signs such a deal, he will become the 14th QB in NFL history to surpass $200 million, with each of the previous contracts starting since 2020.
