Amid sexual assault allegations, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirms Jay-Z's relationship with the league remains unchanged.
This year's Super Bowl halftime show will have Jay-Z's Roc Nation as a co-executive producer.
Jay-Z founded Roc Nation in 2008 and has been handling the Super Bowl halftime show production for several years.
A rape allegation was recently brought against the rapper and businessman.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged the allegations but dismissed concerns that they would harm Jay-Z's relationship with the league.
"Goodell stated on Wednesday during the NFL's winter meetings that the league is aware of the civil allegations and Jay-Z's strong response. He also acknowledged that litigation is currently taking place. Despite this, the NFL's relationship with Jay-Z and their preparations for the next Super Bowl remain unchanged from their standpoint."
In 2000, at an awards show after-party, a 13-year-old woman accused Sean "Diddy" Combs of sexually assaulting her.
On Sunday, a new allegation was added to the lawsuit, claiming that Jay-Z was present at the party and engaged in an illegal sexual act.
Shawn Carter, also known as Jay-Z, rejected the accusations and claimed that the rape allegations against him were a part of an extortion scheme. He also described the accusations as "stupid" and "horrible" in a statement issued by Roc Nation, one of his businesses.
"Jay-Z stated on Roc Nation's X account that his lawyer received a blackmail attempt, known as a demand letter, from a lawyer named Tony Buzbee. The nature of the allegations and the public scrutiny, according to Jay-Z, would make him want to settle."
In 2019, the NFL collaborated with Jay-Z's Roc Nation for events and social activism. The partnership between the league and the high-profile entertainment company was recently renewed.
The Super Bowl halftime show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9 will feature Kendrick Lamar, who has been tapped for the performance. Roc Nation and Emmy-winning producer Jesse Collins will serve as co-executive producers of the show.
Beyoncé, who has more Grammys than any other artist in history, was born in Houston and will perform at halftime of the Christmas Day game between the Ravens and Texans in Houston.
""Roger Goodell believes that the NFL has become increasingly comfortable with advising and assisting in various events, including the Super Bowl, and has been a valuable partner in the social justice area," Goodell stated."
