Amid retirement talk, Kelce delivers an emotional message to Chiefs fans during the playoffs.
The Texans face the Chiefs in the playoffs.
On Friday, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs shared with fans his thoughts on the significance of playoff football before their AFC Divisional Round game against the Houston Texans.
Earlier in the week, on "The Stephen A. Smith Show," Kelce discussed retirement.
The most significant football experience of your life is playing in the playoffs," he stated in a video shared on the Chiefs' Instagram account. "Each play is highly valued, and I always aim for excellence while playing.
"Exceeding your current abilities. Clearly, there's a significant accomplishment within our reach that no other team has ever achieved. This motivates us."
During the podcast, Kelce stated that he would reassess certain aspects during the offseason.
Kelce informed Smith that he enjoys everything he is doing in the building, but he is not achieving the same level of success on the field as he has individually. He will reevaluate his situation and likely tell himself how much he loves it, before returning next year.
""Coming into the building every day is still a joy for me, even though it can be challenging at times. I don't do it for the statistics, but for the greatness and legacy we've built here in Kansas City. I can't imagine feeling content because I'm always driven to achieve more and accomplish something right now," he said."
Despite facing criticism throughout the season, including accusations of being washed up and spending too much time with Taylor Swift, Kelce had an impressive performance with 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games.
As the season neared its end, Kelce remained healthy and only missed one game, Week 18, when the Chiefs chose to rest their starters. With retirement on the horizon, Kelce was questioned about Swift's thoughts on him retiring.
Swift has assured Kelce that he has his support to continue playing if he chooses to do so.
