After the team's plane was forced to turn back due to the players' altercation, Auburn's Bruce Pearl delivers a message to his team.
An altercation reportedly left one player with injuries.
Last week, a flight carrying the Auburn men's basketball team was forced to turn back during a flight to Houston due to a reported altercation between two players.
The pilot's audio, obtained by WBRC, suggests that the incident was a "physical altercation" that resulted in one "bloodied player" and clothes being torn off.
According to audio obtained by WMBA, the pilot turned the flight around to Auburn and had law enforcement waiting for its return.
During a recent appearance on OutKick's "Don't @ Me With Dan Dakich," head coach Bruce Pearl was questioned about the message he conveyed to his team after their flight was rerouted.
Pearl stated, "Although the message emphasized taking responsibility and learning from mistakes, our primary focus was on our trip and preparing for Houston. Unfortunately, we missed a community service event and arrived late that night."
"Although there may be challenges in travel or preparation, let's keep the kids focused and play some great basketball. Let's test our skills against Houston, knowing that it will be a tough task."
Although there was a disagreement on the plane, Auburn still managed to reach Houston and defeat the No. 4-ranked Cougars, 74-69.
Despite their victory, the aftermath of the flight is not yet resolved.
Pearl stated, "At this point, you understand how these things work. However, I am limited in what I can say. Unfortunately, it was an incident that we are dealing with head-on. It will unfold here shortly."
Auburn is 3-0 on the season and faces North Alabama Nov. 18.
