A Louisville football player was stretchered off the field and hospitalized after sustaining an injury during a game.
A neck brace was put on Benjamin Perry before he was taken away in a cart.
On Saturday night, a player was rushed to the hospital from the sideline in Clemson, causing a moment of fear.
An ambulance transported injured Louisville defensive back Benjamin Perry after he was hurt against the Tigers.
Several minutes were spent by Perry on the turf, with coaches Jeff Brohm and Dabo Swinney checking on him.
After being stabilized by a neck brace, Perry was stretchered into the stadium and sent to a hospital via ambulance.
As he exited the stadium, Perry was both alert and engaged in conversation. He even had the opportunity to speak with his mother, who was not present at the game, via phone.
The fourth-year player was getting an MRI at the hospital.
At the time of the injury, the Cardinals led 3-0 with 1:47 left in the first quarter.
Last season, Louisville's Chicago native played in all 13 games and set career records with 56 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss.
Since being transported to the hospital "for further evaluation," Louisville has not given any additional details about Perry's condition.
