Zach Bryan expresses regret following his social media post about Taylor Swift and Kanye West: "Abstain from alcohol and online communication."
Country music star shuts down X account following 'intoxicated' tweet about Kanye West being superior to Taylor Swift.
Zach Bryan, a country music singer, is facing criticism after comparing Taylor Swift to Kanye West in a social media post that has since been deleted.
This week, Bryan posted on X, previously known as Twitter, "eagles > chiefs, Kanye > Taylor, who's with me," as reported by Variety.
In the social media post, Bryan seemed to focus on certain aspects of Swift's life, particularly her NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.
West has a history of dissing Swift, especially after interrupting her at the 2009 MTV VMAs, and she has been the subject of several of his diss tracks.
After the controversial social media post, the country star deactivated his X account and issued an apology to Swift fans for his tweet.
"I want to clarify that I did not intend to target Taylor Swift the other night," Bryan wrote on top of a screenshot of Swift's song with Post Malone, "Fortnight," on Instagram. "I was drunkenly comparing two records and my words came out incorrectly."
The "Heading South" singer acknowledged the longstanding feud between Swift and West, while continuing to explain, "I know there’s a lot of stuff that clouds around Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often."
Bryan, 28, stated that he hopes to clarify his controversial social media post to Swift someday. He also apologized to Swifties and explained why he deactivated his X account.
"For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night. I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong." — Zach Bryan
"Twitter often lands me in trouble and I think it's best if I stay away from it," he wrote. "I'm sorry to any Taylor Swift fans I may have offended or disappointed. I love you all and I'm doing my best."
Bryan openly admitted that he's going through a tough time and asked for support from his fans.
"Recently, I've been facing difficulties in my personal life and I believe I may have been transferring some of those struggles onto others."
He admitted that the social media post might have been perceived as "insensitive and dismissive of Taylor's feelings."
Bryan praised Swift, expressing his deep respect for her as a musician and emphasizing that he does not want others to doubt his appreciation for her contributions to music.
Swift's "The Albatross" was shared by Bryan, who implored, "Avoid tweeting while intoxicated."
Bryan admitted that this year has been challenging for him personally and he has been struggling to balance various responsibilities. He apologized for his behavior and expressed his admiration for Taylor Swift. He then announced that he will be taking a break from X to focus on his tour and "ground" himself.
He concluded by saying, "I needed to get this off my chest, yall are the best, and I'll see you at Bourbon and Beyond."
Planet Chronicle Digital did not receive immediate responses from Bryan, Swift, and West when requested comment.
