According to Don Johnson, three things are crucial to his enduring marriage.
Johnson and his spouse, Kelley Phleger, exchanged vows in April 1999 and are parents to three children: Atherton Grace, Jasper, and Deacon.
Johnson has discovered his "happily ever after" and is prepared to reveal his success secrets.
In a recent interview with People, Johnson revealed how he and his wife, Kelley Phleger, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. He shared that they had a grand feast and a lavish celebration, and he presented her with multiple pieces of jewelry.
The actor later shared the key to his long-lasting marriage.
He told People that he and his partner have an unspoken trust, kindness, and respect for each other, which are the keys to their successful relationship.
According to reports, Don Johnson and his wife, Rita Phleger, met in the mid-'90s at a birthday party for San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, but didn't start dating until 1997. A year later, Phleger was seen wearing an engagement ring, and the couple got married in April 1999.
"Oh, we are just so in tune with each other that there's an unspoken, like, trust and kindness and respect with us. And those are the keys." — Don Johnson
Johnson and Phleger, who have been married for 25 years, have welcomed three children together: Atherton Grace, Jasper, and Deacon. Despite keeping their relationship private over the years, Johnson recently gushed about his wife in an interview with Parade, saying, "She's an amazing woman."
"Phleger is perfect for Johnson because she embodies kindness, trust, and respect, which are the core values of love. Johnson stated that Phleger is an amazing woman and they have a fun relationship as lovers and friends."
Before marrying Phleger, Johnson was previously married to actress Melanie Griffith, briefly in 1976 and then from 1989 to 1996. During their second marriage, they had a daughter, Dakota. Additionally, he has a son, Jesse, with ex Patti D'Arbanville.
Currently, the actor is promoting his upcoming television drama series "Doctor Odyssey," where he portrays Captain Robert Massey. The show centers on a doctor who embarks on a luxury cruise ship and addresses unusual medical cases with his team.
Despite his current fame, Johnson claims that the actor spent years living in poverty and struggling to find success. He told The Wall Street Journal that he spent years getting cast in forgettable roles, including five unsuccessful TV pilots, before finally landing his iconic role in "Miami Vice."
"He was astonished that someone appeared to have been taking note of his thoughts, feelings, and emotions. The section was intended for him, he remembered. The audition went exceptionally well, so well that he was convinced it was a certainty."
Johnson starred in the popular show for five seasons and was nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of Detective James Crockett.
From 1996 to 2001, Johnson starred in the hit series "Nash Bridges," before transitioning to film, where he appeared in "Machete," "Django Unchained," "Book Club," and other projects.
