'Eric Roberts, a 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant, wrote a memoir titled 'Runaway Train: My Life So Far'.'
On Tuesday night, viewers got a rare look into the life of one of the most respected actors in the industry through Eric Roberts' debut on "Dancing with the Stars."
Roberts' latest TV role is a step towards rectifying past wrongs, as detailed in his new memoir "Runaway Train: My Life So Far."
In the book, Roberts publicly apologized to his sister, Oscar winner Julia Roberts, for words he had spoken about their famous family.
In 2018, "The Righteous Gemstones" actor made headlines for acknowledging his sister's successful career and his daughter's status in Hollywood.
He stated in Vanity Fair that without him, there would be no Julia Roberts or Emma Roberts as famous actresses, and he is extremely proud of that.
Nearly six years later, Roberts walked back on his statement and extended an olive branch to the "Pretty Woman" star.
According to People magazine, he wrote, "I hope Julia will accept this public apology. It was an asinine thing to have said."
His reputation off-screen is almost as significant as his film and television roles.

In 1981, a car accident left Roberts in a three-day coma, and years of drug abuse as a cocaine addict further impacted his mind, body, and relationships.
"I wouldn't be surprised if they suffered from PTSD due to the danger surrounding me, as Lisa and Julia were left with fear and uncertainty instead of love and protection," he admitted in the book about his relationship with his sisters.
"Consequently, my drug use resulted in the loss of Emma."
In the throes of his addiction, Roberts accused Julia of supporting his ex-wife, Kim Cunningham, in a custody battle over their daughter, Emma.
"He wrote that he would continue to be Julia's brother and Emma Roberts' father for the rest of his life, and he wanted to fulfill that promise with pride and dignity. The book he wrote was a way of achieving that goal."
