Expert predicts that reconciliation between King Charles and Prince Harry won't be an easy task.
The Duke of Sussex will serve as the guest of honor at the annual WellChild Awards in London on September 30th.
With Prince Harry preparing to return to the UK, there is hope for a reunion with his father, but a royal expert predicts that peace talks will not be straightforward.
The Duke of Sussex has been named the guest of honor for the WellChild Awards in London on Sept. 30. The charity, which supports seriously ill children, is one of the few causes in the UK that the 40-year-old has continued to support since stepping back as a senior royal in 2020 and moving to California.
Helena Chard, a British broadcaster and photographer, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the 75-year-old king, who was diagnosed with cancer in February, is reluctant to meet with his younger son.
"Prince Harry's demands for constant availability from King Charles have caused frustration among the royal family members, who want to ensure their conversations remain private, according to Chard's statement to Planet Chronicle Digital."
"Chard stated that King Charles loves Prince Harry as a father and will make an effort to communicate with him, especially on important days."
For over four years, Harry has been battling in court for his protection in the U.K.
In 2020, the Duke of Sussex forfeited his taxpayer-funded personal protective security after relinquishing his role as a working member of the royal family.
Harry declined an invitation from the king to stay at a royal residence during his visit to the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
The Duke of Sussex allegedly rejected the offer because it lacked security measures, which would have required remaining in a public area with entry and exit points and no police presence, according to The Telegraph.
Harry remained at a hotel, as he had done in previous trips.
"King Charles is thoroughly fed up with Prince Harry assuming that he can [manage] his security requests. He will not be available 24/7 for Prince Harry's demands." — Helena Chard, British broadcaster and photographer
At the time, neither the father nor the son's representatives responded to Planet Chronicle Digital's requests for comment.
""I think the relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry will improve, but it won't happen overnight," Chard stated."
According to sources close to Charles, the king had planned to speak with Prince Harry on his milestone birthday on Sunday. However, things are currently under wraps.
She mentioned that Harry's upcoming trip to the UK was planned for a while.
"She remarked, "I'm certain he has his security in place." Although it would be pleasant to believe he could remain with his father, it wouldn't be surprising if he stayed at the Althorp Estate once more, near his "red aunts" and Charles Spencer - his aunts and uncle on his late mother's side. He has a strong connection with this branch of his family and feels secure and close to his mother when staying at the estate."
Lee Sansum, Princess Diana's bodyguard, recalls how young Prince William and Prince Harry reacted to the paparazzi.
On May 8, Prince Harry celebrated the Invictus Games anniversary with a thanksgiving service at St. Paul's Cathedral. Meanwhile, Charles and other senior royals held a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
A spokesperson for Harry stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the king was occupied and unable to meet with his son.
Harry is reportedly planning to appeal a court ruling that denied him security, with the aim of reinstating it to facilitate more flexible visits to the UK with his wife and children.
The monarch's failure to respond to his son's phone calls and letters has contributed to their ongoing estrangement, according to sources.
Harry's latest move on Sept. 17, which was National Voter Registration Day, may possibly widen the gap.
"Prince Harry and Meghan have entered the realm of US politics by issuing a statement through their Archewell Foundation, encouraging people to vote. Their words carry a hint of a woke tone, although they have not explicitly endorsed either Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump."
"King Charles will not want to be associated with their inappropriate behavior, especially as they have kept their royal titles," Chard claimed. "They should maintain neutrality."
The Archewell Foundation, founded by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, stated that voting is not just a right but a way to impact the future of communities.
The Archewell Foundation recognizes that civic engagement, regardless of political affiliation, is crucial to a more just and equitable world. Through initiatives like this, we aim to emphasize the importance of every voice being heard.
"You are invited to be part of this crucial initiative. Let's collaborate to ensure that all eligible voters are educated and confident in their ability to contribute to the country's future."
The British royal family maintains political neutrality in the United States.
Harry had offered to pay for his own police protection in the UK, but was denied in court. A friend told People magazine that as king, Charles could intervene in the issue, which has caused a rift between father and son. The pal claimed that conversations between the two have shifted from frustration to complete silence, with the king remaining silent on the matter.
Harry is eager to visit his friends in the UK and work directly with the charities he's still connected to in his homeland, but he's worried about his security and bringing his family to the UK for visits.
Harry made a secret visit to his homeland for the memorial service of his deceased uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, on August 29th. According to reports, he resided with his uncle, Earl Charles Spencer at Althorp.
Harry was accused by Chard of breaching trust with other members of the royal family.
She claimed that all members of the royal family desire to maintain the privacy of their conversations.
In February, Prince Harry visited the UK for a brief 45-minute meeting with his father.
Since quitting royal duties, Harry has had a strained relationship with his family due to the unbearable intrusions and racist attitudes of the British press.
Since his rocky relationship with his family became public, the father of two has shared his story in TV interviews, a documentary, and his memoir, "Spare."
The couple's friend told People magazine that safety and lack of support from the palace were always their top concerns.
"The only option was to leave for their sanity," the pal told the outlet. "They thought if they got out of this bubble, there would be less focus on them."
Some close to the palace believe that Harry's memoir and interviews have damaged the family's trust in him, while those close to the prince argue that if he had proper security, he wouldn't need to speak publicly to pay for it.
If the security issue is resolved, "it’s swords down," claimed the friend.
"Being able to rekindle his bond with his father would bring [Harry] the most happiness," the pal said to the outlet. "Despite the fact that you can't change bloodlines, Harry isn't asking for material possessions. He's asking because of the reality of the situation. He's at risk."
