Devin Strader, a 'Bachelorette' finalist, acknowledges past mistakes in arrest reports.
Jenn Tran was previously in a relationship with Strader before their separation during season 21.
Devin Strader, a "Bachelorette" finalist, is responding to rumors about his past arrest and a reported restraining order against him.
In 2017, Strader was arrested for burglarizing his former girlfriend's home, as reported on Tuesday.
The woman in the petition for protection from abuse stated that she returned home from out of town to discover her room had been burglarized and an item was missing - a necklace that she claimed was given to her by Strader.
She informed police that she and Strader had recently broken up, and at the same time, an unidentified woman filed a contempt of court petition against Strader for violating the restraining order she had obtained against him.
The woman, represented by her domestic violence attorney, claimed in a rule to show cause that she could not continue living her life with Strader contacting her, even with a restraining order, as per People.
Strader was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass and ordered to pay $500, complete 30 hours of community service, and attend the "Court's Effective Decision-Making School," court records show. Additionally, he was arrested that year for DWI, according to People.
"The Bachelor" franchise takes the safety of its contestants seriously and conducts thorough diligence, but a protective order did not surface in their vetting process.
In a statement shared with Planet Chronicle Digital, Strader responded to the accusations against him.
He began by addressing the numerous stories and misrepresentations about him that have been circulated in the media since his time on 'The Bachelorette.'
Recently, there have been challenges from my past that have been misconstrued. The accusations are not true as I have never inappropriately touched anyone or treated my ex-girlfriend in the ways I have been depicted. The restraining order was never granted and was fully dismissed.
"Our reconciliation and subsequent ending of our relationship on good terms marked the first time I experienced falling in love. Through our relationship, I learned a great deal and it was a growing experience for both of us."
Strader acknowledged his imperfections and mistakes, but he has consistently strived to be someone his loved ones would be proud of, and he is deeply grateful for their support.
In a since deleted video, the 28-year-old accused Jenn Tran of making false claims about their breakup this season on "The Bachelorette."
"The accusations are simply not true as I have never inappropriately laid hands on another individual or treated my ex-girlfriend in any of the ways I have been depicted." — Devin Strader
"I regret the video I released after the final episode. Although I am grateful for my time on the show and my relationship with Jenn, I am not proud of my lapse in judgment. I sincerely apologize for any hurt I may have caused her. Jenn is a special person, and I wish her all the best."
By the time the "After the Final Rose" special aired, Tran and Strader were no longer together, despite being on season 21 of "The Bachelorette."
