Eli Manning's Hall of Fame pursuit is supported by Bill Belichick.
Belichick appeared on ESPN's 'ManningCast' for the final time.
Eli Manning was named a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's modern era ballot two weeks ago, with the goal of reaching Canton, Ohio, in his first year.
The former New York Giants star boasts a Hall of Fame-worthy resume, having won two Super Bowl championships against Tom Brady and an undefeated New England Patriots team, and amassed 57,023 passing yards and 366 touchdown passes. These statistics were among the highest in the NFL when he retired after the 2019 season.
Bill Belichick, the former Patriots head coach, endorsed the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback on ESPN's "ManningCast" during the Los Angeles Rams' playoff victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday.
"Belichick advised Manning that he didn't look good in the hoodie but would look great in a gold jacket. He assured Manning that it would happen and he deserved it to join Peyton in a gold jacket."
Last week, the New York Post reported that Manning was uncertain.
Being in control of the outcome is different because you're not actively campaigning or trying to convince others. Whether I win or lose, it won't affect my mood or attitude. I won't be upset or moping around.
"Being among the top 15 this year is an honor, and I view it as a positive and enjoyable experience."
In New Orleans, the announcement ceremony would take place if he gets in.
