Will the Trump campaign urge moderation in language following the shooting outside his golf club?
A potential assassination attempt is being probed by the FBI.
Will former President Trump's campaign urge moderation in language following the shooting outside his golf club on Sunday?
Following reports of gunfire near Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, Alex Witt questioned whether Trump's campaign would urge his supporters to reduce their violent actions.
"Will there be calls from the Trump campaign to address this?" Witt inquired. "Since he will contact his supporters and urge them to take it down, we don't know the source of the gunshots or who is responsible. We still don't have a complete picture of how this unfolded."
Would it be typical of the former president for the Trump campaign to tone down the rhetoric and violence?
Elise Jordan, a political analyst for MSNBC, stated that after the assassination attempt on President Trump's life, there was speculation of a new tone. However, the Republican convention was considered muted by Trumpian standards. Despite this, by the end of the speech, the convention returned to its original tone.
She continued, "I don’t know how long this moment of unity for the country where we come together and say ‘I don’t want any political opposition to be under threat of violence. We don’t want that.’ I would love for us to have a unity-type moment, but I think it is probably going to be fleeting, as we have seen in the past."
Jordan pondered if individuals on "both sides of the aisle" would collaborate to "lower the heat."
Jordan stated that the demonization of the other side has led to violence and violent rhetoric, making it more than just politics. He emphasized that Democrats and Republicans must be aware of this and work to reduce the heated rhetoric before it results in further violence. Jordan concluded by asking what everyone can do to lower the temperature.

The FBI has stated that the shooting incident involving two individuals appeared to be an assassination attempt on former President Trump, despite initial reports suggesting that he was not the target.
Ryan Wesley Routh has been identified as the suspect, according to law enforcement sources. He was reportedly armed with a rifle when agents fired at him.
Authorities stated that he managed to push his gun's muzzle through the chainlink fence outside the golf club.
Routh was spotted by Secret Service and opened fire on Trump, who was 300 to 500 yards away.
Routh escaped, but was later caught and arrested. He was found with two backpacks, a GoPro camera, and a rifle.
An assassination attempt on Trump occurred at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, about two months prior to the incident.
