For the first time since 1996, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters is not backing the Democratic presidential candidate, as a poll revealed that almost 60% of its members support former President Trump.

Trump stated on "Gutfeld!" Wednesday that he believed they would remain neutral, although the event was significant and unexpected.

"The Teamsters, who are the workers who do the job, were polled, and the results were positive. I have had many of them work for me on concrete projects, such as framing and driving trucks. Recently, they announced that they will not support the Democrats."

"Trump stated, "We had a significant advantage with the people as it has been a long time since they supported a Republican or engaged in this activity.""

A union official from New York City and a former Democrat appeared on "Fox & Friends" on Thursday to explain why they cannot back Vice President Harris.

Bob Bartels, business manager of Steamfitters Local Union 638, stated that over the past four years, various issues such as an open border, inflation, gas prices, oil, and mortgage rates have occurred. He added that he could continue to list these problems, but the main concern is the impact of illegal immigrants on neighborhoods, specifically the one he grew up in, where people worked hard to buy a house in a nice neighborhood, only for it to be destroyed by the presence of illegal immigrants.

The Teamsters surveyed showed President Donald Trump's 25-point lead over Vice President Joe Biden.

Karoline Leavitt, the national press secretary for the Trump campaign, stated that the Teamsters have made it clear they want Trump back in the White House. These hardworking individuals are the backbone of America, and Trump will fiercely defend them when he returns to the presidency.

Trump praises endorsement from Teamsters union: 'This hasn't happened in so many decades'

The union, with over 1 million members in the U.S., has a significant influence on working-class voters in crucial Midwestern battlegrounds and swing states nationwide. Historically, it has consistently endorsed the Democratic presidential candidate in every election since 1980.

Trump responded, "I believe the Teamsters' move will impact the election. Yes, I think so, as they have a significant influence."

The union stated that their member polling did not show majority support for Vice President Harris and there was no unanimous backing among the membership for President Trump.

Neither major candidate pledged to prioritize the interests of working people over Big Business, according to Teamsters General President Sean O'Brien.

The Teamsters union opted to remain neutral in the Harris campaign, but the campaign highlighted endorsements from "many Teamsters locals and rank and file."

According to Harris campaign spokesperson Lauren Hitt, while Donald Trump advocates for striking workers to be fired, Vice President Harris has consistently supported organized labor and has even physically stood with them on picket lines.

"The vice president's strong union record has earned her the endorsement of Teamsters locals across the country, along with the majority of organized labor. During her speech to the Teamsters on Monday, she pledged to always fight for the rank and file, no matter what, as they have always been and always will be the people she represents."
