We want to 'stand up for America': Pro-Israel group waits for permit to march near DNC in Chicago.
Elan Carr, CEO of the Israeli American Council, asserts that anti-Israel organizations have been granted permits.
Despite anti-Israel groups' success in obtaining approval for their protest outside the Democratic National Convention next week, a pro-Israel group claims its own request for a permit has been unsuccessful.
Elan Carr, CEO of Israeli American Council (IAC), expressed outrage after applying for two permits with Chicago's Department of Transportation last month.
"We applied for a permit to march and exercise our First Amendment rights, not just to support Israel, but also to stand up for America. Unfortunately, our permit has not been granted, while anti-Israel groups, who burn the American flag, have been granted one."
On Monday, Carr stated on "Fox & Friends First" that he believes the alleged unequal treatment is unjust and added that his group's attempt to display images of American hostages in Gaza and O'Hare airports was also rejected.
He told co-host Carley Shimkus that they didn't put the rejection in writing, but instead conveyed it through a phone call.
"They responded, 'No, we won't provide a written denial. It will be a phone call only.' I believe this should be investigated," he stated.
One week before the DNC, Carr conveyed a straightforward message to Democratic nominee and Vice President Harris.
"We are proud Americans who patriotically stand for our country, the United States, and Israel, and we expect our government to meet our standards," he stated.
"The United States of America is expected to remain steadfast in its support for Israel as it battles against the forces of darkness emanating from Iran and its proxies, such as Hezbollah and Hamas."
The IAC's request for a stationary protest in Chicago was denied earlier this year due to being within "sight and sound" of the convention.
The city denied the request for an assembly due to a lack of resources to ensure public safety.
The city proposed an alternative location two to three blocks away from the convention, but IAC rejected it.
Protesters against Israel are still engaged in legal disputes with the city over their right to march near the DNC, claiming that officials have obstructed their permit requests.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Mayor Brandon Johnson's office allegedly proposed a route "near" the United Center, where the DNC is being held, to protesters.
The city of Chicago gave Planet Chronicle Digital a statement when asked for comment.
"The City of Chicago supports the right to protest under the First Amendment, but ongoing litigation prevents us from discussing specifics about the route or assembly area. However, we can confirm that demonstrators will be able to protest near the United Center within sight and sound of the building. No Assembly or Parade permits have been issued near the United Center or McCormick place at this time."
Planet Chronicle' Kristine Parks contributed to this report.
