On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris was mocked online for stating that despite changing her policy stance, her values remained unchanged.

During her initial interview as a presidential candidate, alongside her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris was prompted to expound on her numerous significant policy changes.

"How should voters evaluate the changes you've made, given your increased experience and knowledge, your role as a presidential candidate in a Democratic primary, and whether they can trust that your current statements reflect your future policy? CNN host Dana Bash posed these questions to Harris."

"Harris stated that the most crucial and noteworthy aspect of her policy outlook and choices is that her values have remained unchanged. She emphasized to the news host that she has consistently believed in the reality of the climate crisis and its urgency, and she has worked on the Green New Deal. She added that she has always believed that the climate crisis requires the application of metrics that include setting deadlines for ourselves. She highlighted the Inflation Reduction Act as an example of how they have applied this approach."

Harris stated that we have established objectives for the US and the world to achieve specific emission reduction standards.

My values regarding the need to secure our border have not changed. As Attorney General of California, I spent two terms prosecuting transnational criminal organizations for violations of American laws related to the illegal passage of guns, drugs, and human beings across our border. My values have not changed.

Numerous online commentators contended that Harris' assertion that she maintains the same values implies she is as radical as she was in 2019, despite her efforts to appear moderate during the election.

"Kamala Harris' San Francisco progressive values remain unchanged, just like a zebra's stripes," said Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kans.

"According to independent journalist Glenn Greenwald, Kamala did not pretend to explain why the beliefs she expressed during her 2020 presidential campaign are now different. There was no effort to demand an explanation, and Dana Bash was chosen for a specific reason."

Victor Joecks, a columnist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, argued that Kamala Harris' statement "My values have not changed" actually implies that she is merely pretending to be moderate in order to win the election.

Chad Gilmartin, president of Gilmartin Strategies, declared that Kamala Harris remains a liberal from San Francisco.

Steve Cortes, a former adviser to the Trump campaign, reacted with surprise to Kamala Harris' statement that she still supports all of her past radical policy positions.

"Vince Dao, a conservative commentator, stated that Kamala Harris' values have not changed and therefore all of her 2020 policies are fair game for the 2024 election."

As always, Kamala Harris has reminded everyone that her values have not changed and she will vote radically, according to conservative social media strategist Chuck Callesto.

Pollak proposed that Harris' statement implies she is not moderating her leftist views.

Other commentators argued that the interview was a textbook case of a news personality using leading questions to a candidate.

"Larry Behrens, Power the Future spokesman, commented on the "pathetic setup" of Bash offering a softball question and then presenting Harris with different options for answering it."

In a courtroom, I'd object: Leading the witness!

""Dana Bash's softball question to Harris about her shifting stance on issues doesn't bode well for the rest of the interview," Washington Free Beacon investigative reporter Chuck Ross said."

T. Becket Adams humorously mocked the interview: "Dana Bash: 'Why have you changed your stance? Are you now better than before?'" he joked. "Kamala Harris: 'We believe we control time, delaying events until we know the exact moment.'"

Kamala Harris flip-flops on border wall stance

Some commentators contended that despite her efforts, Harris often struggles to communicate effectively in unstructured interviews.

Kane, the WWE legend, mocked Harris online and revealed the reason she won't speak to reporters: she has given up the cover.

Kaylee McGhee White, editor of the DC Examiner, criticized the interview as a failure for Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite Dana Bash's efforts to provide an easy excuse, the interview did not go well for Harris. Her campaign had previously stated that it does not support EV mandates, and yet she was seen acknowledging the timelines laid out by those mandates. This was a concerning development for Harris's campaign.

Will Reinert, the NRCC national press secretary, joked that the interview will leave vulnerable House Democrats yearning for the Biden post-debate days.

One example of Harris' policy inconsistencies is her recent campaign ad that showcases the Trump-era border wall, despite her previous criticism of it as "un-American."

Harris' campaign announced last month that the vice president does not support a ban on fracking, which is in contrast to her remarks as a primary candidate during a 2019 CNN town hall event, where she said there is "no question I’m in favor of banning fracking."

During her failed primary campaign in the 2020 cycle, Harris publicly supported "Medicare for All" and semiautomatic rifle buyback programs. However, she has since distanced herself from these programs.
