Vance spokesperson criticizes AP for misrepresenting quote: "Lost all credibility"
The Associated Press later deleted the X post and updated the headline.
The Associated Press was criticized by a spokesman for JD Vance for publishing a headline on Thursday that suggested the Republican vice presidential candidate had dismissed school shootings as a "fact of life."
William Martin, a spokesperson for Vance, criticized the AP in an exclusive comment to Planet Chronicle Digital.
Martin stated that the Associated Press has been lying about a Republican politician, Senator Vance, and that it is no surprise that they have lost credibility due to their history of lying to support the Democrats. Additionally, Kamala Harris has called for the removal of police officers from schools, putting children at risk, which is another example of her weak, failed, and dangerously liberal agenda, making her unfit for office.
At a rally in Phoenix, Vance commented on the recent mass shooting that occurred at Apalachee High School in Barrow County, Georgia on Wednesday.
"Vance stated, "I dislike the fact that this is a reality, but if you are a psychopath seeking attention, you understand that our schools are vulnerable targets. To enhance security, we must take action to prevent such incidents from occurring.""
AP seemed to suggest that Vance viewed school shootings as a normal occurrence without expressing any regret.
"JD Vance argues that school shootings are a normal occurrence and advocates for improved security measures," the revised headline states.
The headline was also included in a post that was later removed after receiving a Community Note.
Note: The quote is not as negative as the headline suggests.
AP later replaced both the headline and the X post, acknowledging the update.
JD Vance laments that school shootings are a "reality" and calls for improved security measures.
An earlier post was deleted to provide context for the partial quote from Vance, as reported by the AP.
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to the AP for a comment.
The Harris-Walz campaign responded by attacking Vance and former President Trump.
Yesterday, Vice President Harris stated that school shootings do not have to be a part of our lives in response to another senseless shooting. Donald Trump and JD Vance believe that school shootings are a fact of life and we need to accept them, according to Harris-Walz 2024 spokesperson Ammar Moussa in a statement.
Moussa stated, "Vice President Harris and Governor Walz recognize the need to safeguard our children and prevent guns from falling into the wrong hands. On the other hand, Donald Trump and JD Vance prioritize the interests of the NRA and gun lobby over the safety of our children. This is the clear distinction in this election."
