TIME Magazine retracts statement that Harris backed funding for migrant sex changes.
During the presidential debate, Trump brought up Harris' 2019 commitment to provide gender treatments for detained migrants.
The ABC News Presidential Debate was incorrectly covered by TIME Magazine, which claimed that former President Trump's statement that Vice President Kamala Harris supported free gender transition treatment for detained migrants was false.
In the ABC News Presidential Debate on Tuesday night, Trump pointed out that Harris had previously held a left-wing stance on several issues but had since walked back on them while running for president.
Trump stated that now she desires to perform transgender surgeries on undocumented immigrants who are incarcerated.
Despite her promise to back taxpayer-funded gender care for detained migrants in an ACLU questionnaire during her first presidential campaign, TIME Magazine initially reported the statement as false.
The original version of the story misrepresented Donald Trump's statement that Kamala Harris supported "transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison" as false. In 2019, as a presidential candidate, Harris filled out a questionnaire stating that she supported taxpayer-funded gender transition treatment for detained immigrants.
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to TIME for a comment.
Numerous other liberal journalists dismissed the idea as unbelievable, suggesting that Trump fabricated it during the argument.
Former CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill described the statement 'She wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens who are in prison' as the wildest thing he had ever heard in any debate.
Susan Glasser, a staff writer for The New Yorker, recounted Trump's historic rant about immigrants eating dogs and his claim that the Vice President wanted to perform transgender operations on illegal aliens in jail.
She also mocked the line in her piece about the debate Wednesday.
Glasser wrote that the Vice-President's statement about wanting to perform transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison was quite memorable, but no one knows what he was talking about. This was, of course, exactly Harris's point.
Jennifer Senior, an Atlantic staff writer, joked that it's unfair to transgender individuals who are illegal aliens and participate in drinking games.
Michael Weiss, The Insider editor, reported that the person now wants to perform transgender operations on illegal aliens who are imprisoned.
The Daily Beast included Trump's quote as one of the "best memes" of the night, despite not mentioning Harris' past support.
On Monday night, CNN highlighted Harris' policy position again after senior editor Andrew Kaczynski disclosed a 2019 ACLU candidate questionnaire on the show.
As Attorney General, Harris advocated for transgender individuals who rely on the state for care to receive the necessary treatment, including gender transition surgery, for state inmates.
I will ensure that federal prisoners and detainees receive medically necessary care for gender transition, including surgical care, while incarcerated or detained. Transition treatment is a medical necessity, and I will direct all federal agencies responsible for providing essential medical care to deliver it.
Burnett was stunned by Harris’ answer.
Burnett exclaimed in disbelief, "She actually supports taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries for detained migrants?"
She later commented, "It's difficult to believe that taxpayer-funded gender transitions for detained migrants would be considered, yet as you say, it has been written and verbally."
In an interview with Planet Chronicle' "America's Newsroom" on Tuesday, Michael Tyler, a spokesperson for Kamala Harris, stated that the position was not part of her current campaign.
