Tim Walz event disrupted by Harris campaign reporters in Pennsylvania.
During their campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris and Walz have mostly shied away from the media.
During a campaign event in Lancaster County, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz did not allow reporters to ask him questions.
The Democratic vice presidential candidate and his daughter visited the Lancaster County Democratic Committee field office that morning to continue campaigning in the state.
As Walz conversed with volunteers at the office, Alyssa Kratz, a WPMT FOX43 reporter, posted on Facebook that the campaign had barred the media from speaking with him.
Gov. Tim Walz and his daughter Hope spoke to supporters at the Lancaster County Democratic Committee field office for approximately 6 or 7 minutes. Walz did not take questions from the media while there, and microphones were not allowed to be put up during his speech.
We were instructed not to disrupt the program when one reporter shouted a question.
Kratz later confirmed to Planet Chronicle Digital that reporters were denied access to Walz.
Kratz told Planet Chronicle Digital that as a group (the press), we asked multiple times if Gov. Walz could speak by the podium and we could put our microphones on the podium, but we were denied.
Gov. Walz's interaction with volunteers was interrupted by a reporter from the local NBC affiliate (WGAL) who shouted out a question. The campaign instructed us not to disturb the governor's interactions with the volunteers.
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to the Harris campaign for a comment.
Since the start of her presidential campaign in July, both Walz and Vice President Harris have mostly shied away from the media. On Thursday, they finally gave their first official interview in a pre-recorded segment with CNN's Dana Bash.
The vice president's first major interview was widely criticized, with commentators questioning why she couldn't do it without Walz present.
She has also yet to give a formal press conference.
