The verdict on Hunter Biden has left his inner circle in shock, marking a significant setback for the president, according to an ABC anchor.
'My close friend of Hunter Biden's responded with shock when I asked about him.'
The conviction of Hunter Biden on federal gun charges has left his immediate circle in shock and is a significant personal blow to his father, an ABC anchor stated on Tuesday.
Jonathan Karl, reporting for ABC, was stunned by the one-word response he received from a close friend of Hunter Biden's after the conviction. Despite the inner circle's confidence in an acquittal or hung jury, the outcome was a surprise.
In his federal trial, Hunter Biden was convicted of lying about the purchase of a gun, providing false information to a federally licensed gun dealer, and possessing a firearm while addicted to a controlled substance.
Karl observed that President Biden is "extremely close" to Hunter and recently stated that his son had "committed no faults."
According to Karl, the blow to President Biden is not just political or legal, but deeply personal.
President Biden has stated that he will not pardon his son if he is found guilty in the case, as Karl pointed out that this decision could be subject to change.
Karl remarked that there must be some fascinating discussions taking place within the Biden family and at the White House.
On Tuesday morning, ABC, along with CBS and NBC, interrupted their regular programming to provide coverage of the guilty verdict.
In 2018, Hunter Biden falsely claimed on a gun registration document that he was not a drug user, and the jury reached its verdict after only three hours of deliberation. Although he could face up to 25 years in prison, it seems unlikely that he would receive such a severe sentence.
President Biden released a statement expressing love and support for his son after the verdict, noting his well-known struggles with addiction.
"Last week, I stated that I am the President, but I am also a father. Jill and I are incredibly proud of our son and how he has grown into the man he is today," he said.
Families who have witnessed loved ones overcome addiction understand the pride that comes with seeing them emerge from recovery and display strength and resilience. Last week, I stated that I would respect the outcome of this case and the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal.
