The former President Trump stated that strikes against Mexican drug cartels are still a possibility.
The 2024 GOP nominee urges Mexico to 'straighten out quickly'.
The former president stated that strikes against Mexican drug cartels remain a possibility as fentanyl and overdose deaths persist in the US.
Trump and his 2024 running mate JD Vance were interviewed by Planet Chronicle host Jesse Watters on "Jesse Watters Primetime" about their plans to address the drug influx from the southern border and the drug cartels producing them.
Is the possibility of strikes against the cartel still being considered in Mexico?
"Trump replied, "Mexico must act quickly or face dire consequences. They are responsible for the deaths of 300,000 people annually due to fentanyl smuggling.""
Trump declared that he had reached an agreement with Chinese President Xi Jinping to impose the death penalty on anyone smuggling fentanyl into the US.
"The 2024 GOP nominee stated that China has the death penalty for drug dealers and those who send fentanyl into the country. He agreed with this policy, stating that it would have made a significant difference."
Since 2000, more than 1 million people have died from fentanyl and other synthetic opioids, as revealed by U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in a June interview with Planet Chronicle anchor Neil Cavuto on "Your World."
The Biden administration and other government agencies prioritize addressing the fentanyl and overdose deaths crisis, which she referred to as a "human tragedy."
On average, 115 Americans succumb to opioid overdoses daily, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Trump stated that Mexico would be given a brief timeframe to "secure their border."
"I'm confident that they will not perform well, and then you'll witness the action unfold. And let me tell you, it's going to be disastrous. They're killing 300,000 to 350,000 people, not the 100,000 or 90,000 that some people might think. That's a huge number, equivalent to two Yankee stadiums. They're destroying families, and it's going to be even worse than that," he said.
"Even if there's no death, they're tearing families apart. The families are shattered and destroyed."
If fentanyl had been coming across the border 20 years ago, Vance believes his mother, Beverly, who struggled with drug addiction, would not have survived.
"He informed Watters that his mom wouldn't be present, despite being a wonderful grandma to her three grandkids. Although it's wonderful to see her happy and healthy, many families don't get that opportunity due to the poison that Biden is allowing into the country."
Trump's actions against drug cartels are beneficial to the Mexican government as it helps stabilize their country and reduces billion-dollar profits.
"Unless we gain control over this, they will transform into a narco-state and no longer be a legitimate country, according to Vance."
