The 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony was criticized by Trump as a "disgrace."
'The Last Supper' parody depicted in a scene has drawn criticism from some viewers.
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games opening ceremony was criticized by former President Trump for allegedly parodying Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting "The Last Supper."
""I thought the opening ceremony was a disgrace," Trump said on "The Ingraham Angle" on Monday."
Dancers in drag danced around a table that resembled the last dinner between Jesus and his disciples.
The French Bishops' Conference stated that the ceremony contained instances of Christian mockery and disrespect.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., also criticized the mockery of the Last Supper during the Olympic Games opening ceremony, stating that it was "shocking and insulting to Christian people worldwide." He added, "The war on our faith and traditional values continues to escalate, but we remain steadfast in our belief that truth and virtue will ultimately triumph."
Over the weekend, Thomas Jolly, the director of the opening ceremony, stated to French TV station BFMTV that "The Last Supper" was not the source of inspiration for the controversial scene.
"It's not my inspiration," he stated. "The god of celebration in Greek mythology, Dionysus, is the one who graces this table. He is there because he is the god of wine, a treasure of France. And the father of Sequana, the goddess who is associated with the river, the Seine. The purpose of this celebration is to honor the gods of Olympus and have a pagan celebration."
"I aimed to create a ceremony that heals, unites, and reinforces the values of our Republic: liberty, equality, and fraternity," Jolly stated.
If Trump were at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and had the ability to influence the organizers, there wouldn't be a depiction of "The Last Supper."
He informed Laura Ingraham on Planet Chronicle that there would be no Last Supper portrayed as it was the previous night.
""I thought what they did was a disgrace, but I'm open-minded and they can do certain things," Trump said."
