Taylor Lorenz of the Washington Post admits that the "Biden war criminal" post was an intentional meme after claiming it was edited.
The Post is investigating the liberal columnist's social media behavior.
Washington Post columnist Taylor Lorenz is now admitting that her "war criminal" post about President Biden was not edited, contrary to her initial claim.
On Thursday, Lorenz became viral after a New York Post reporter, Jon Levine, shared a screenshot of an Instagram post that depicted Lorenz taking a selfie with Biden in the background at a White House event, with the caption "war criminal" and a frowny face.
"Any dumba-- edit someone makes will fall for it," Lorenz replied to Levine on X.
On Friday, Lorenz not only confessed that it was real but also emphasized it was a jest.
"Lorenz never denied it was real, but told one critic it was an "obvious meme.""
Speculation circulated online that Lorenz was alluding to musician Lucy Dacus, who accused former President Obama of being a "war criminal" on social media last year, accompanied by a frowny face.
According to Planet Chronicle Digital, the post was made in an Instagram story using the "close friends" feature, which is indicated by the green star icon. This means that the post was not publicly visible and could only have been seen by a select group of Instagram users chosen by the user.
According to NPR, "four individuals with firsthand knowledge" verified the authenticity of the post.
Lorenz, who has very few close friends on CF, only saw the actual post shared by his close friends seen by about 7 people. Most of his friends are normie non-media individuals. As a result, Lorenz is unsure who the person in NPR's reporting is referring to.
The Washington Post has acknowledged the existence of the alleged social media post and is currently investigating it.
Lorenz did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
Biden has been frequently criticized by the far-left for his management of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, with many labeling him "Genocide Joe" due to his decision to continue providing military support to the Jewish state following the October 7th terrorist attack. Lorenz, a well-known far-left advocate, is a staunch critic of Israel.
Lorenz has a history of sparking controversy on social media and in her reporting tactics.
