Singer John Legend urges his hometown to accept Haitian migrants and refutes false rumors about their eating habits in Ohio.

John Legend, a singer-songwriter, used his Instagram account on Thursday to refute former President Trump's assertion that Haitian migrants were consuming cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio, where Legend grew up.

Despite the rise of Haitian migrants in Springfield, Legend refuted the rumors of pet theft and consumption.

"He stated in a lengthy video while wearing a white robe from his Beverly Hills mansion that nobody eats cats or dogs. He emphasized that the individuals in Springfield were attracted by job opportunities and were willing to work."

The Grammy- and Oscar-winning entertainer, born "John R. Stephens" in Springfield, Ohio, encouraged residents to show "grace" to the roughly 15,000 immigrants who have arrived there. He captioned his post with "How about we love one another. See each other’s humanity.... Let’s talk about Springfield, Ohio."

Legend stated in his video that the desire to achieve the American dream was shared by many of our ancestors, including those from Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Poland, as well as those from Jamaica and Poland.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of Haitians have migrated to Springfield, resulting in an increase in crime, mayhem, and car accidents. In a town of 58,000 people, approximately 20,000 Haitians have arrived, according to city officials.

During recent city council meetings, residents have expressed outrage over the ongoing surge of influx and have demanded action on the issue.

Legend countered by highlighting the difficulties that immigrants encounter while pursuing the "American dream" for themselves and their families.

Swift backlash to Legend's post online was mainly due to his hypocrisy, as he no longer resides in Ohio.

Wearing a bath robe in your mansion while telling us how it is is quite wild. If it's so great, why not move the family back to Springfield?

Another commenter on the post inquired about the number of migrants being invited into the neighborhood by the person living in Springfield, as they were unaware that the individual still resided there.

Charlie Kirk, the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA and host of "The Charlie Kirk Show," also commented on X, expressing his worry about Legend's post and its disconnect with Americans.

Kirk wrote that John Legend used social media to give a lecture to the people of Springfield, urging them to be more accepting of the 20,000 Haitians who had recently arrived in the town.

Kirk stated that John Legend, being a smug liberal, would never live out the consequences of his ideology. Instead, he resides in a $18 million Beverly Hills mansion while belittling the pain, fear, and loss experienced by the working-class people he left behind.

Local officials refuted online claims about them, as reported by Planet Chronicle Digital.

The city has issued a statement denying any reports of pets being harmed, injured, or abused by individuals within the immigrant community in response to recent rumors about criminal activity by the immigrant population.
