On Sunday, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., responded to ABC News' Jonathan Karl's dismissal of Vice President Kamala Harris' past pledge to eliminate private health insurance in a heated on-air exchange.

In an interview on ABC's "This Week," Cotton criticized Harris for supporting policies such as decriminalizing immigration and providing taxpayer-funded health insurance to illegal aliens, stating that Trump will work to highlight these differences in the upcoming election.

The discussion shifted when Cotton mentioned Harris' previous stance on removing health insurance from jobs for 170 million Americans.

The host interrupted, saying, "What do you mean by removing health insurance? What are you referring to?" as Cotton spoke about the far-left issues that the Harris campaign had previously supported.

During her 2019 presidential campaign, Harris publicly declared her support for abolishing private health insurance as part of her 'Medicare-for-all' initiative.

Karl stated that Harris no longer supports 'Medicare-for-all' according to him.

"Is that not her position now?" Cotton asked.

She hasn't said that. Perhaps anonymous aides on a Friday night said that, but the last thing she said...

The host commended Harris for attempting to find common ground with her political opponents.

Cotton stated that Kamala Harris's efforts to maintain her positions are not aimed at changing them but rather concealing them. He argued that the American people are justified in concluding that Harris is a dangerous San Francisco liberal based on her past presidential campaign and the actions of the current administration over the past four years.

It was surprising to watch the DNC last week and think that the Democrats were not in office or in power, campaigning against an incumbent Republican, when in reality, she has been part of the failures of the Biden-Harris administration for four years and when she ran for president on her own, she did indeed promise things.

The two continued to argue over whether Harris's positions on issues such as decriminalizing illegal immigration and abolishing health insurance have changed since 2019.

"She said she has changed," Karl repeated.

"No, she hasn't," Cotton pushed back.

"Yes she has."

"No, no she has not," the lawmaker persisted.

Despite her past support for single-payer healthcare, Harris' campaign has stated that she will not bring up the topic of "Medicare-for-all" during her current campaign.

However, Harris herself has yet to express her change in policy views.

In January 2019, Harris proposed eliminating private insurance. However, in July 2019, she introduced a new plan that allowed private insurance companies to administer Medicare plans, while adhering to strict guidelines.

One critic questioned whether Karl was auditioning to be Harris' press secretary after a clip of his unwavering defense of the vice president was widely shared.

The official Trump War Room account shared a video of Karl discussing Harris' "Medicare for all" plan on ABC in 2020.

They wrote that in 2020, you were discussing Kamala's support for Medicare for All, which would eliminate private health insurance, as she herself admitted.

Karl and his colleagues have not asked Harris if she has changed her stance from her 2019 campaign, despite her avoidance of formal press conferences and interviews.

John Daniel Davidson, a senior editor at The Federalist, stated that for the sake of argument, let's assume she has changed her position. Despite this, Jon Karl and the rest of the corporate press appear completely uninterested in why she suddenly altered all the positions she campaigned on in 2020, and they will never inquire about it.

Politico columnist Jonathan Martin defended Harris, stating that "whenever she does her first actual interview, which may be this week," she would be able to address any concerns.
