Sanders: Trump made eyebrow-raising election comments about Harris
Harris was characterized as a "progressive" by Sanders, despite her "pragmatic" approach to policy flip-flops.
Vice President Kamala Harris was mocked by former President Trump after Senator Bernie Sanders claimed she had shifted her far-left policy positions to win the election.
On Monday, Trump posted on Truth Social, stating that Sanders believes Kamala will quickly revert to her Marxist policy positions after the election.
In an interview on NBC on Sunday, the senator was questioned about Harris' shift from her previous far-left policy positions, including a ban on fracking and support for "Medicare-for-all."
"On "Meet the Press," NBC anchor Kristen Welker questioned Sanders about whether she was forsaking her progressive beliefs."
"He replied, "I believe she's being pragmatic and doing what she thinks is best to win the election, rather than abandoning her ideals.""
Harris was still considered progressive by Sanders, despite their differing views on certain issues.
Trump claimed Sanders had exposed Harris as a "total phony."
Bernie Sanders criticized Kamala Harris on Truth Social, calling her a "total phony" and stating that she is still a Marxist despite her past.
Neither the Harris campaign nor the White House responded to Planet Chronicle Digital's inquiries regarding Sanders' portrayal of Harris.
A campaign spokesperson previously confirmed to Planet Chronicle Digital that Harris had shifted her key policy positions and was adopting a "pragmatic" approach to "bring all sides together."
"While President Trump remains committed to the extreme views in his Project 2025 plan, Vice President Harris believes that effective leadership involves bringing people together to reach a consensus. This approach allowed the Biden-Harris administration to achieve bipartisan breakthroughs on issues such as infrastructure and gun violence prevention. As President, she will continue to take a practical approach, focusing on finding common-sense solutions to move forward."
Karoline Leavitt, Trump 2024 National Press Secretary, mirrored Trump's claim that Harris was being dishonest about her policy positions.
On Monday, Leavitt told Planet Chronicle that Senator Sanders is revealing what the Harris campaign wants to keep hidden from the American people: that Kamala Harris is a typical career politician who lies to get elected. Despite trying to distance herself from her past record, the Harris-Biden administration cannot escape it.
In the ABC News Presidential Debate on Wednesday night, Trump will "finally hold her accountable for the past four years' failures" and "over her career" on immigration, inflation, and crime, Leavitt stated.
