Quentin Tarantino advises Kamala Harris to avoid interviews until the election: "Stay the course."
Tarantino stated, "It's all about winning and it doesn't matter how we appear at this moment."
Quentin Tarantino advised Kamala Harris not to conduct any interviews prior to the election, stating to Bill Maher that he would still vote for her regardless of her statements.
On Bill Maher's "Club Random" podcast, Tarantino made a profanity-laced comment about criticism surrounding Harris' lack of press engagements and formal interviews with reporters.
"This is about winning," he declared. "It's a mad dash and she is leading the way. She's not stopping to stumble and… I'm going to vote for her no matter what she says in the interview so don't mess it up."
Harris' refusal to face the press, according to Maher, is due to the left's inability or lack of desire to interact with individuals outside of their bubble.
She would never come close to me, and when you don't approach those who will vote for you, it's clear you're not confident in your support.
Tarantino stated that there was no need for her to appear on his show prior to the election.
"Exactly the audience she needs is the person who is in the middle and not ideologically captured by either side, as I speak to the exact voter she needs," Maher replied.
While Maher's argument is "irrefutably right in a normal election cycle," Democrats are solely focused on winning in November, according to Tarantino.
"We're the president, not Trump, and this is about winning. While some may criticize the Democrats for not having enough guts, the Republicans are given credit for their focus on winning, regardless of how they appear at the moment," he stated.
The director of "Pulp Fiction" is among the Democrats and left-leaning commentators who are calling on Harris to keep avoiding the press, even as pressure mounts for her to respond to journalists' questions.
Over the weekend, Maher stated on his show that Harris' treatment of the media by ignoring them is more disrespectful than Trump's long-standing attacks on news outlets.
"Trump's statement that you are "the enemy of the people" is highly negative. In essence, he is saying, "I don't need you, I'm not talking to you, you don't matter, and you're not relevant to me anymore." To me, this is even worse than saying "I hate you." It's like saying "I don't think about you.""
Despite being the Democratic nominee for over a month, Harris has not conducted any interviews or held news conferences. In contrast, Trump has frequently made himself accessible to the media, giving both interviews and news conferences.
Harris had suggested scheduling an interview before the end of August, but on Thursday, when asked by Planet Chronicle' Peter Doocy, she jokingly replied that she was working towards it.
Last Thursday at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Julie Chávez Rodríguez, campaign manager for Harris, evaded questions from Planet Chronicle Digital by quickly ducking her head and rushing away when asked about Harris's press conference.
Planet Chronicle' Joseph A. Wulfsohn contributed to this report.
