The Director of Policy Studies for the Center for Immigration Studies stated that this is a significant number of incidents.

Over 300 'serious incident' reports have been filed at a Massachusetts shelter program for migrants this year.

This year, the Boston Herald reported that a Massachusetts shelter program experienced over 300 "serious" incidents.

The Emergency Assistance family shelter program in Massachusetts reported a total of 316 Serious Incident reports at various locations, including hotels, congregate sites, scattered sites, and co-shelters.

Although Emergency Assistance is not a migrant shelter program, migrant families may be eligible for it.

The Center for Immigration Studies' Director of Policy Studies, Jessica Vaughan, described the reports as "very disturbing" and stated that the number of incidents was "huge" to the Herald.

Vaughan added, "This is a huge failure, and it's happening with massive amounts of taxpayer money."

She stated that the state is evidently not ensuring a secure environment for these migrants.

The Herald reported that the migrant family shelter program had banned over 20 people for "inappropriate actions." These banned individuals were then referred to individual adult homeless shelters, according to the Herald.

The Emergency Assistance program defines a serious incident as "serious misconduct, threatening behaviors, or actual harm involving or affecting an EA program or any EA family members. Serious incidents can involve perpetrators who are EA family members, program staff, external community members, or anyone else."

The Administration prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of families in the Emergency Assistance program, as stated by a spokesperson for the agency to Planet Chronicle Digital.

The spokesperson stated that in the event of an incident at an EA shelter, HLC staff and service providers collaborate with families to ensure their safety, security, and well-being, while also working with relevant authorities to address any concerns.

"Serious incidents at a shelter site do not always indicate misconduct or violations of shelter rules by residents. These incidents can include natural disasters, fire alarms, COVID-19 infections, unauthorized entry by non-EA residents, and other events that disrupt the EA program."

The Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities in Massachusetts did not provide a comment upon request.

The state's homeless shelter system is being overwhelmed by an increasing number of migrants, according to reports.

On Tuesday, Gov. Maura Healey announced new restrictions that prioritize Massachusetts families for services.

The governor revealed last month that she had dispatched her administration to the Texas border due to the "surge" of migrants heading towards Boston.

Officials will connect with federal agencies, NGOs, and migrant families to inform them about the limited availability of shelters in Massachusetts.

Numerous Democrat-led states and cities have grappled with the influx of migrants they are receiving. Several mayors have implored the Biden administration to increase federal funding and expedite work permits to enable migrants to obtain employment faster and reduce their dependence on social services.
