Olivia Nuzzi's show was not launched after leftwing criticism of her damning Biden story.
Nuzzi hopes Bloomberg will exhibit more courage in future endeavors, according to Planet Chronicle Digital.
Allegedly, Bloomberg abandoned plans to promote its new TV show hosted by journalist Olivia Nuzzi due to left-wing opposition resulting from her critical report on President Biden.
In July, it was announced that Nuzzi, New York Magazine's top Washington correspondent, would host a six-episode interview series called "Working Capital," featuring prominent individuals in the political and business world. This announcement came just days after Nuzzi published a groundbreaking article highlighting the "conspiracy of silence" surrounding Biden's mental decline. The first episode of the series was released on July 17.
According to Semafor, Bloomberg has abandoned its planned publicity campaign for Nuzzi's show due to a minor Twitter protest by Democrats against the journalist.
In early 2010s, online liberal critics circulated tweets written by Semafor joking about conspiracy theories targeting then-President Obama, claiming they were evidence of racism and demanded Bloomberg dismiss her.
Nuzzi expressed her disappointment with Bloomberg's response to the far-left mob in a statement to Planet Chronicle Digital, which she had previously shared with Semafor.
"Nuzzi stated that when he writes something that irritates the right, he is labeled a liberal activist, while when he writes something that irritates the left, he is labeled a conservative activist. He pointed out that mainstream media organizations tend to ignore bad-faith campaigns against reporters led by the right, and he was disappointed by this lack of tolerance."
Nuzzi stated that she understands the decision of journalists to delete old posts to protect themselves, but her role as a journalist involves meeting people in gray areas and embracing complexity and nuance. She believes that hiding jokes made in the context of the internet years ago is a form of dishonesty that she is not comfortable with.
"If you want to live in a world where people are forgiving and hold themselves to the same standards they expect others to, you must not give in to pressure from the mob, even if it's easier, Nuzzi said. This is how such a culture is formed and maintained, and it's up to individuals to decide if they're willing to endure some pain to fight against it."
Nuzzi stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that she had not received any communication from Bloomberg since the Semafor report and added, "I hope Bloomberg will demonstrate more bravery in their future actions."
The show "Working Capital," which included interviews with New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Gov. Chris Sununu, R-N.H., Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Mark Cuban, ended on August 15. There is no information on whether Nuzzi's show will be renewed for a second season. Bloomberg did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
In January, Nuzzi heard concerns from Democratic officials, activists, and donors about Biden's age and cognitive ability, which she described as a "dark family secret" for many elite supporters, according to her July report.
Nuzzi revealed that after meeting with the president, the group shared the same concern: Would he be able to continue for another four years? Would he even make it to Election Day? Despite being from different social backgrounds, they all lived and socialized in Washington, New York, and Los Angeles. They were hesitant to share their experiences and did not want to blow the whistle.
"The president's interactions with acquaintances in social settings sometimes left them feeling disturbed. Longtime friends of the Biden family, who spoke to me on the condition of anonymity, were shocked to find that the president did not remember their names. At a White House event last year, a guest recalled, with horror, realizing that the president would not be able to stay for the reception because, it was clear, he would not be able to make it through the reception. The guest wasn’t sure they could vote for Biden, since the guest was now open to an idea that they had previously dismissed as right-wing propaganda: The president may not really be the acting president after all."
The controversy over Biden's mental decline intensified after his poor debate performance in June, leading to his withdrawal from the presidential race and Kamala Harris's subsequent emergence as the Democratic nominee.
