MSNBC hosts were caught stamping and clapping during Walz's DNC speech, and Rachel Maddow has now admitted it.
On the third day of the DNC, Walz formally accepted his party's vice presidential nomination.
On Wednesday night, during his speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz received applause and cheers from MSNBC's hosts, reporters, and commentators.
"I was completely unprepared for how it would unfold," Maddow admitted Wednesday night during Walz's acceptance speech for vice president. "The atmosphere in the room, with our small group at MSNBC headquarters, was electric as everyone stood up and cheered."
On Wednesday night, former football players from Mankato West High School, where Walz once coached, appeared on stage at the DNC to support him in a widely shared moment online.
Maddow stated that the moment after Walz finished his speech was electrifying for her and other MSNBC hosts present in the room.
MSNBC reporter Jacob Soboroff stated that he was approximately six feet away from half of the football team on this side of the stage during the DNC event hall, when asked by Maddow about the energy in the room.
"The intensity of the smiles on their faces, it was evident, ‘I can't believe I'm standing on this stage, in front of the United States of America,' he exclaimed. It was an amazing experience."
Chris Hayes, according to Maddow, has nothing more real than still wearing his uniform shirt and jersey from the state championship.
Hayes replied, "I love that moment when you get the call and say 'yes'." He imagined the players' excitement when they were asked by the DNC to appear alongside their old coach.
On Wednesday, Walz discussed the fertility treatments he and his wife underwent to have children.
In another viral moment, Walz's son, Gus, clapped for his dad and became visibly emotional.
"That's my Dad," Gus Walz appeared to say.
Walz's younger child, Gus, is a 17-year-old senior at St. Paul Central High in Minnesota.
