MSNBC contributor believes it's crucial for Harris to communicate less frequently.
Harris has not given a press conference or sit-down interview in 32 days.
Cornell Belcher, an MSNBC contributor, dismissed concerns about Vice President Kamala Harris not holding a press conference or formal interview after 30 days in office.
On Thursday, a Democratic strategist answered a query from NBC News' Kristen Welker about whether Harris should conduct more interviews prior to her first debate with Trump in September.
Welker inquired about the urgency of making oneself available for interviews.
Belcher stated that the regular voters are not as concerned about her lack of interviews as her poll numbers have been increasing. She has been directly engaging with people across the states, particularly in battleground states.
He continued, "She must do more press because she has to, but right now, it's crucial for her to communicate directly with voters in battleground states, which is what she's doing."
Despite avoiding the press, some media members have defended Harris' decision not to do interviews.
On Wednesday, Erin Burnett of CNN questioned whether Harris would benefit from avoiding media interviews.
Earlier this month, MSNBC host Michael Steele stated that Kamala Harris may not need to speak to the media as long as she is effectively reaching the American people and maintaining high poll ratings.
Steele said, "At what point do you say strategically, ‘Why do I need to talk to you right now? I’m talking to the American people and we’re having a conversation. You’re happy to follow it and to report on it,'"
Is there a need for her to seek the approval of the press at this moment, when she appears to be having a productive conversation with the American people?
Since becoming the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee in July, Harris has not held a formal press conference or sit-down interview after 32 days.
She informed reporters outside an airport tarmac that her team was looking to schedule an interview before the end of the month.
