Undecided voters who were interviewed by The New York Times after Tuesday's presidential debate revealed that they were not swayed by the performances of either candidate.

In five states, The Times conducted interviews with voters to determine if the presidential debate had influenced their opinions.

Milwaukee resident Shavanaka Kelly, who has three daughters, told the Times that her daughters laughed at former President Trump's claim that migrants were stealing and eating pets in Ohio.

Kelly said, 'It was kind of like, "Can you take him seriously?"' But, similarly, Trump's opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, did not move the needle either.

"Kelly stated that she didn't completely separate herself and was still undecided."

In Pennsylvania, a couple was hoping to be swayed by either candidate during the debate but were left disappointed.

All was disappointing for Sharon Reed, a retired teacher residing in central Pennsylvania.

The Times wrote that Mr. Trump's tariffs and Ms. Harris's aid to young families and small businesses would benefit a couple on a fixed income that has not kept up with inflation.

After the debate, Sharon and her husband, both 77 years old, expressed concern about the cost of the candidates' policies. They felt that neither candidate provided enough details on their immigration or foreign policy.

According to The Times, undecided voters who have been interviewed regularly over the past few months acknowledged that Ms. Harris appeared more presidential than Mr. Trump in interviews.

At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Samira Ali, a sophomore, was uncertain about whom to vote for and felt that Harris needed to win her over.

Another voter, Gerald Mayes, 40, felt "confused."

Mayes, based in Las Vegas, stated, "I am trying to understand how this affects my family financially as nothing is clear to me."

"Jason Henderson from Arizona stated that Trump had a more commanding presentation, and there was nothing about Harris's performance that made him believe she was superior in any way."

However, two voters did end up convinced by the candidates’ performance.

Kristen Morris, a North Carolina resident, was intrigued when Ms. Harris entered the race.

Following the debate, Morris, 60, intended to support the vice president.

"My expectations have been met," Morris said.

The Times reported that others who were not satisfied with their choices also found the debate informative, but their doubts centered on Ms. Harris.

In Milwaukee, a voter was unexpectedly pushed towards Trump.

"Keilah Miller stated that Trump's pitch was more convincing than hers, and she found herself leaning more on his facts than her vision."

"While Trump was in office, I was living better," Miller, 34, stated. "I've never been so down in the past four years. It's been incredibly difficult for me."
