During her Labor Day rally in Detroit, Michigan, Vice President Kamala Harris drew criticism for her new "accent."
Harris spent her Monday holiday in Detroit aiming to bolster blue-collar union workers in the crucial swing state she hopes to maintain in the November election.
"Union members deserve gratitude for the five-day work week, sick leave, paid leave, and vacation time, Harris emphasized to the crowd with a distinct change in her tone."
A clip shared by conservative X account Johnny MAGA criticized Harris' "Detroit speak," labeling her as "cringe and fake."
"Stephen Miller, a senior advisor to Trump, commented on the politician's seventh new accent in four weeks, stating that she had never used this accent before and grew up in Canada. He also described her as the "phoniest politician in all of politics.""
Professor and podcast host Gad Saad wrote that he despises inauthenticity in humans, among countless other traits.
"GOP strategist Matt Whitlock stated that Kamala Harris's politics is a performance, with her changing fake accents and policy positions like she changes political personas. Currently, she is speaking in a fake southern accent, pretending to be a moderate, but next week she will return to her San Francisco liberal persona."
In a different clip, the Trump campaign highlighted Harris' "cringe" accent as she said, "Let's just get through the next 64 days, how about that!?" and then burst into laughter.
"What did I just watch on TikTok? The new accent is bizarre."
Foghorn Leghorn's voice was compared to Harris' accent by X users.
Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment from the Harris campaign was not immediately responded to.
It has been frequently alleged that Harris changes her accent when speaking to different groups of people.
In July, Harris faced criticism for adopting a fake Southern accent while addressing a rally in Atlanta. During her 2021 trip to France, Harris was criticized for using a "French accent" while visiting a COVID lab.
