Kamala Harris launches campaign while Biden administration faces criticism from Rachel Morin's mom on border: 'It's only going to get worse'
Last year, a Maryland woman was brutally murdered, and her mother blames the Biden-Harris administration for her daughter's death.
Rachel Morin's mother criticized the Biden administration and Kamala Harris for their failed immigration policies after her daughter was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant last year.
""The responsibility of securing the borders and protecting Americans lies with Mr. Mayorkas, while Vice President Harris is tasked with finding the root cause of immigration and addressing it in Central America, as per the White House. Harris has promised up to $14 billion to be invested in these countries to improve infrastructure and create jobs," Patty Morin stated on "Fox & Friends" on Thursday."
"She stated that it appeared as though the country was exporting troublesome individuals to other countries, and Mayorkas allowed the borders to remain open. As a result, there are approximately 9 million illegal immigrants entering the country. If this were any other country, it would be considered an invasion."
In August of last year, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador named Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez allegedly raped and killed Rachel. Police believe he is also responsible for a home invasion in Los Angeles and a murder in his home country.
In June, he was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and accused of first-degree murder, rape, and assault. His trial is scheduled to start in October.
If found guilty, the 23-year-old immigrant may be sentenced to life imprisonment without the chance of release.
Despite being caught by the Border Patrol several times earlier this year, he was released back into Mexico under Title 42. He later successfully entered the country near El Paso, Texas, and was deemed a "gotaway."
Patty contended that the surge at the southern border is beyond politics and not a partisan matter. She maintained that Harris, who was responsible for managing the border as vice president, disregarded the issue and unintentionally put her daughter in harm's way.
"Morin stated that the issue of undocumented people in the country, which affects almost 9 million people, is not a problem specific to either Democrats or Republicans. Instead, it is an American problem that requires attention. The country has a significant number of undocumented individuals, and their whereabouts are unknown. They have been transported to major cities through flights and buses. As a result, crime rates have increased exponentially in these cities due to the influx of undocumented people."
"If we don't close the border and vet the people coming, the situation will only worsen. This is basic sense and good governance. It's our duty to safeguard the people we were elected to serve."
On Thursday, the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan resolution condemning Vice President Harris' management of the southern border, marking the first piece of legislation aimed at her since she was named the Democrats' 2024 presidential candidate.
All Republicans and six Democrats voted for the measure, which passed 220-196.
Michael Morin, Rachel's brother, spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin last week, paying tribute to his sister's memory while criticizing the Biden administration for its role in the border crisis.
"At the Republican National Convention, he stated that Rachel, a happy, successful athlete and mother of five, was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant. This was described as one of the most violent crimes to ever occur in Harford County, Maryland's history."
"Allowing violent criminals into our country and robbing children of their mother is not compassionate, despite the common portrayal of open borders as virtuous."
