In an interview that aired Sunday, Sen. JD Vance passionately defended his wife, Usha, against criticism of her Indian heritage.

During a weekend media blitz, Vance appeared on CBS' "Face the Nation" and discussed his wife Usha, who has been targeted by White supremacists due to her race.

Usha Vance, a successful lawyer and daughter of Indian immigrants, is married to Vance and they have three biracial children together.

"To what extent are you worried that this type of hatred will follow you to the White House?" inquired Brennan.

Vance stated that public life in America is disgraceful as it follows us wherever we go, and he is proud of his wife. He believes that people can attack his policy views, but his wife did not sign up for it.

"He added, "So I wish they would just keep their mouth shut, or at least focus on me, since she's way out of their league.""

Vance was questioned by Brennan about how he manages to remain calm when his family is targeted in public.

""Certainly, I get angry when people attack my family for something beyond our control," he admitted."

Vance affirmed that his wife is "tough" and understands the family's commitment when Trump announced him as his 2024 running mate last month.

Usha Vance, who has been in the spotlight due to her husband's high profile, has revealed that she has developed "thick skin" when discussing how she handles negative media coverage.

It can be challenging to accept that things are not always as they seem. Sometimes, I don't fully understand the situation, and other times, I do but find it difficult to reconcile it with my expectations. However, after some time, I have become more accustomed to it and have developed a thicker skin. As a result, I try not to let it affect my daily life.

She added that she has found it helpful to avoid reading the news.

Someone advised me not to read the news too much, which is not burying my head in the sand. Instead, I think it's important to hear directly from JD, who is out there talking about various things and thinking about them. Having someone who hears it straight from him can be beneficial, as it allows JD to share his thoughts and experiences without being filtered through other people's perspectives.

Usha Vance, born in 1986, was raised in San Diego, California, and attended Yale Law School, where she met the future Ohio senator.

Usha Vance obtained a bachelor's degree in history from Yale and a master's in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge prior to law school.

After graduating from Yale, she worked as a clerk for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh when he was on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, according to an Axios report.

In 2014, the couple got married and now have three children: sons Ewan, 6, and Vivek, 4, and a daughter, Mirabel, 2.
