JD Vance calls for a genuine debate with opponent Tim Walz instead of a "fake news media garbage" one.
An invitation for a vice presidential debate from CBS News on Oct. 1 has already been accepted by Tim Walz.
Sen. JD Vance, the GOP vice presidential candidate, expressed his desire for a "real" debate with his Democratic opponent, Gov. Tim Walz, before the November election, but expressed some reservations about how it would unfold.
On "The Ingraham Angle" Wednesday, Vance revealed that CBS News contacted his team beforehand and offered the two running mates four dates: Sept. 17, Sept. 24, Oct. 1, and Oct. 8.
He stated that he wanted to examine the debates, analyze the moderators, and discuss the rules in more detail.
"I strongly suspect we will be present on October 1st, but we will not participate in a phony debate where the audience and parameters are not authentic, allowing for a productive exchange of ideas. In other words, we will not engage in a fake news media garbage debate. If CBS agrees to a genuine debate, then we will definitely participate."
JD will be seen on October 1st, as Walz replied to CBS's invitation on X, which was previously Twitter.
Vance stated that he believes there should be multiple debates between him and Walz to give Americans a clear comparison of the two campaigns and the Republicans' vision for the country's future.
Donald Trump believes it's crucial for the American people to witness him and his campaign team discussing their views. He stated this during an interview with Ingraham, explaining that they have been giving numerous media interviews and speaking to every audience possible because their vision is clear.
"We believe that hardworking Americans should not have to struggle to afford groceries. We also believe that our children should not be killed by fentanyl. Our vision is to implement public policies that will secure the border, reduce drug use, and lower the cost of groceries and housing to reasonable levels. Since we have this vision, we will go anywhere and talk to anyone to achieve it."
In early September, for the first time, former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will face off in a presidential debate.
