JD Vance advises reporters to press Kamala Harris for answers: "Basement strategy"
Vance advised reporters to improve their efforts in making Kamala Harris respond to questions.
On Tuesday, JD Vance, the Republican vice-presidential candidate, criticized reporters for not pushing Kamala Harris to address her record, arguing that she was employing a "basement strategy."
During a press conference on his plane before a rally in Philadelphia, the Ohio Senator stated that he and Trump employ a "divide and conquer" strategy.
Harris hasn't been interviewed or held a press conference in 16 days since becoming the Democratic nominee, and he turned the question around on her.
"In conclusion," he stated. "I am familiar with most of you and appreciate you as individuals. However, I believe you need to improve your approach to questioning Kamala Harris. As the presumptive Democratic nominee for 16 days, she has yet to answer a real question from a reporter. The American people deserve to know the leaders they are considering, and it is disgraceful that Kamala Harris and the media are using a basement strategy to avoid tough questions about her record and personal identity."
Vance stated that he and Trump handle both hostile and non-hostile questions because they value the American people.
Since she became the 2024 ticket holder, Harris has avoided the press and received highly positive media coverage.
On Tuesday, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz accepted Kamala Harris' offer to be her running mate, and Vance left a message to congratulate him, expressing excitement for a "robust conversation."
Vance has been attacked as "weird" by Walz, and this criticism has been embraced by other Democrats and liberal media allies.
The recent controversy surrounding Vance's past comments about childless women has been a source of tension for the campaign. Despite his claims that he was misquoted, his remarks have caused significant backlash. Meanwhile, the 2024 presidential race has become a dead heat after President Biden dropped out and endorsed Harris.
