James Carville believes that Harris will triumph in the debate against Trump: He's "walking into a giant trap."
Carville advised that Trump made a grave error by agreeing to this debate.
On Monday, James Carville, a democratic strategist, stated that Vice President Kamala Harris would triumph in a debate against former President Trump, and added that the latter made a grave error.
"Carville stated that he believes the candidate is well-prepared because she has top-notch advisors preparing her. He also mentioned that President Biden's poor performance in June has set low expectations for her. While he acknowledged that Trump did not do great, he emphasized that President Biden's failure to perform well was the main issue. Carville also expressed his belief that the candidate would do well, despite the possibility of eating his words on Wednesday. Lastly, he criticized the candidate for accepting the debate."
On Tuesday, ABC News will host the first debate between Harris and Trump, with Linsey Davis and David Muir serving as hosts.
Trump is walking into a giant trap, according to Carville's viewpoint.
In a recent guest essay for the New York Times, Carville argued that Harris must allow Trump to be Trump in order to defeat him.
"He suggested that she should encourage him to speak over her, but she should also provoke him into discussing insane conspiracy theories about the previous election. She should use her sense of humor to irritate him and prove that he's not affecting her. Additionally, she should embrace personal attacks as a symbol of her strength."
Carville repeated the same refrain each time, regardless of how many times he did it, emphasizing that it was the same old tired playbook and he was focused on a new path forward.
The vice president was urged by him to disagree with President Biden on significant matters.
"Carville advised that in order to address the criticism of a lack of access, a news conference should be held after the rally to discuss the new way forward policies. He emphasized the importance of embracing differences with the president, rather than running from them."
To succeed, Harris must demonstrate a "growth mind-set" and openly challenge her past policy stances, particularly regarding climate change, semiautomatic rifle buyback programs, and healthcare.
