Gov. Burgum of North Dakota claims that Harris supports "open borders" for the US, similar to Biden's stance.
Kamala Harris' border enforcement record has been subject to criticism during her presidency.
Gov. Burgum of North Dakota criticized Vice President Harris for her administration's "open borders" policy and President Biden's border security measures.
"Burgum stated in an interview on CNN Friday that Harris desires open borders, similar to Biden's stance. This issue will be a significant concern for people, and they are aware of President Trump's position on it."
During her recent interview with CNN's Dana Bash, Harris stated that she would "enforce" immigration laws. However, her administration's record on the border has been criticized, particularly regarding the number of border crossings.
Burgum stated that Republicans believe that certain issues, such as enforcing border laws, fall under the jurisdiction of the federal government in response to former President Trump's stance on the border.
"The border, as part of national security, is the responsibility of the federal government, not the states, according to Burgum. President Trump aims to secure our border."
"Burgum stated that regardless of one's political affiliation, inflation, high interest rates, wars abroad, and open borders are issues that have negatively impacted all Americans."
Burgum stated that America should aim for "low inflation, low interest rates, peace abroad, and an energy policy that doesn't harm our economy and doesn't benefit our enemies."
He stated that the election will be determined by these issues, without addressing questions about abortion and in vitro fertilization.
Harris' stance on border and immigration laws have changed in recent years.
In 2015, Harris stated to the San Francisco Chronicle that an undocumented immigrant is not a criminal and posted the same claim on social media. During a 2019 episode of "The View," she reiterated her stance when discussing with Meghan McCain's daughter.
"She stated that it should be handled as a civil enforcement matter rather than a criminal one, and not result in imprisonment."
Planet Chronicle Digital did not receive an immediate response from the Harris campaign when requested for a comment.
