"Evangelicals for Harris" accused of misleading people with ad featuring Franklin Graham's father.
The evangelist cautioned that the liberals are employing any means necessary to boost candidate Harris's campaign.
Franklin Graham criticized the "Evangelicals for Harris" group for utilizing his father's image in a negative advertisement against Donald Trump.
Graham serves as both president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse, organizations founded by his father, the renowned evangelist Billy Graham. Billy Graham was celebrated as an American cultural icon and a statue of him was unveiled at the U.S. Capitol in May.
Evangelicals for Harris is a project of Faith Voters, a 501(c)4 organization.
On Wednesday, a Zoom conference was hosted by Ekemini Uwan, a "reparations activist" who believes that "Whiteness is wicked" and the police as an institution "needs to be destroyed and rebuilt." According to Uwan, policing was founded on the re-enslavement of Black people.
The pro-Harris group released a new attack ad that compares footage of Billy Graham discussing confessing sins with an old interview of Trump admitting he was unsure if he had ever asked for God's forgiveness.
Franklin Graham condemned Evangelicals for using his father's image to support Harris and shared a screenshot of the ad on the official Morning Joe account. He stated that if his father were alive, he would support Trump.
"The liberals are using any means necessary to promote candidate Harris, including using my father's image in a political ad, despite his conservative views and support for President Trump in 2016."
The Evangelicals for Harris account responded with "Praying for you" and a heart emoji, followed by a retweet stating that Graham has "forsaken the gospel."
"The problem, Franklin, is that in your devotion to Trump, you have strayed from the Gospel. Our group's post stated, "We are supporting Harris, but we only worship Jesus. Don't forget the call to which you were called. The Lord's grace is always available to you.""
During the Republican National Convention in July, the reverend expressed gratitude and thanks for Trump's actions as the 45th President of the United States. Additionally, the reverend believed that Trump, as the 47th President, would fulfill his promise to "Make America Great Once Again."
During a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. Graham then led a prayer thanking God for saving Trump's life and asked, "And we ask that if it be thy will that you would Make America Great Again."
