Drew Barrymore describes her interview with Kamala Harris as the "most terrifying" conversation she has ever had.
At a recent event, Barrymore admitted to being afraid of making Vice President Harris look bad.
Drew Barrymore has stated that her interview with Vice President Kamala Harris was the most frightening conversation she has ever had.
During a Paley Center for Media event on Monday, Barrymore revealed that before her April interview with Harris, she was concerned about ruining the conversation and harming Harris's reputation.
"If you screw up this woman's path, and you are the clown to do it, and if you make her look bad or create a gap, she recounted, doing interviews as such an art."
The Drew Barrymore Show's interview with Vice President Harris last Spring became viral on social media after Barrymore urged Harris to be the "Momala of the country."
In the meeting, she confronted Harris and declared, "I believe we all require a motherly figure. I feel that we need a massive hug globally at this time. However, in our nation, I urge you to become the 'Momala' of the country."
Numerous notable accounts have voiced unease upon viewing Barrymore's impassioned appeal to Harris, with many describing it as "awkward."
Barrymore admitted to the Paley Center audience that she had been the most nervous about this interview out of all the ones she had previously done.
The actress revealed that she struggled with how to handle the most personal conversation she had ever done on the show's history.
She thought, "If I make this woman laugh, I want her to be vulnerable and open, but what if I do something silly and she plays along, and I've led her astray?"
Barrymore stated that she felt the interview was successful, exclaiming, "It was an electrifying connection. It was an incredibly thrilling and memorable experience for me, and it was about something that she experiences daily, which is how to avoid making mistakes."
In March 2023, Barrymore's emotional interview with trans woman Dylan Mulvaney went viral and she got on her knees to show solidarity for the activist. During the interview, Barrymore shared that she often feels disliked by herself due to backlash from her self-esteem being affected after becoming a Bud Light spokesperson.
The hug between Barrymore and Mulvaney during the segment was criticized by Twitter users for Barrymore's perceived degradation of herself to a biologically male.
