Don Lemon criticized for making fun of Melania Trump's reaction to assassination attempt on her husband: "Disgusting"

Don Lemon was criticized on social media for mocking a video of Melania Trump discussing the assassination attempt on her husband and asking questions about that day.

Lemon shared a video of himself making confused and frustrated faces on his multiple social media accounts this week in response to Melania Trump's clip where she called the attempt on the former president's life on July 13 "horrible" and "distressing," and added that there is "more to the story." One of Trump's supporters, Corey Comperatore, was killed in the shooting.

One critic accused Lemon of making "sick" comments about Melania expressing her views on her husband's near-assassination, while X users also criticized him for mocking her.

In her video, ahead of her memoir's release, the former first lady stated that the attempt to assassinate her husband was a distressing experience. She added that the silence surrounding it is heavy and she wonders why law enforcement officials did not arrest the shooter before the speech.

She added, "The truth needs to be uncovered as there is definitely more to the story."

Lemon released a video reacting to the former first lady's video shortly after it was released.

Lemon's reaction to Melania's video was characterized by shaking his head, rolling his eyes, scratching his head, and showing bewilderment. When Trump's clip ended, the video focused on Lemon looking exasperated and putting his head into his hand.

Lemon's YouTube clip contained additional mockery of Trump's clip, which was captioned as "Why does it seem like A.I.?"

On Wednesday, Libs of TikTok posted the TikTok version of Lemon's video to X, commenting, "Don Lemon ridicules Melania Trump's emotional response to the assassination attempt on her husband, calling it 'sick'."

Although it is still up on YouTube, Lemon deleted the video from his TikTok page.

Conservatives criticized Lemon, with some accusing him of seeking attention.

Stacy Washington, a radio host, wrote that it is distressing when someone attempts to assassinate a former president and mistakenly kills an innocent person in the crowd. She urged Don Lemon to improve his behavior.

Journalist Ian Miles Cheong remarked, "What a sick freak."

Rita Panahi of Sky News criticized Don Lemon for mocking a woman who was distressed by an assassination attempt against her husband and the many unanswered questions that remain to this day.

"No one on the planet is more pitiful and starved for attention than this person who mocks a wife after an assassination attempt against her husband. That's Don Lemon, folks!" Planet Chronicle contributor Joe Concha wrote.
