DeSantis cautions against delaying vote count after election night: "Trust in the democratic process is at stake"
Some time may be required for vote counting, according to a recent New York Times article.
The identity of America's 47th president may not be determined immediately following the election, according to recent speculations in the New York Times.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claims that extending the vote counting process beyond election night is unacceptable with just over 50 days remaining until the ballots are cast.
According to the host of "Sunday Morning Futures," Maria Bartiromo, there will be one candidate who has a significant advantage due to Election Day votes. However, the next morning, people will realize that their candidate's lead has increased by 6%. The lead will continue to grow as more votes are counted, but ultimately, it will flip.
"Even if the elections were conducted without any wrongdoing, the lack of transparency still undermines public trust," he stated. "Therefore, any state that follows The New York Times' reporting is eroding confidence in the electoral process."
"Count the votes on election night and report the results."
The 2020 presidential election trend may continue into the 2024 election, with a higher chance that there will be no clear winner on election night and that early returns could mislead about the final outcome.
The long wait times and the blue or red election night illusion are mainly due to the growing preference for mail-in ballots over in-person voting.
DeSantis vowed to repeat the Sunshine State's 2020 model by announcing the ballot count and declaring a clear winner of the state's 30 electoral votes before the night's conclusion.
"We cannot be in a position where you do not receive the results for a few days. What is happening during those days? Where are these votes coming from? Florida will reveal the results on election night. You can rely on this," he assured.
The state has implemented measures to enhance election security, such as mandating voter ID for every ballot and preventing illegal immigrants and non-citizens from casting votes.
