Dana Bash of CNN contends that the DNC targets men who are not as "testosterone-laden."
Tim Walz and Doug Emhoff address men who don't fit the stereotype of being "gun-toting" or interested in listening to Hulk Hogan.
On Wednesday, CNN hosts discussed the Democratic National Convention's efforts to appeal to men who are less "testosterone-laden," with Gov. Tim Walz and second gentleman Doug Emhoff.
"According to CNN's Jake Tapper, the gender gap in American politics has been consistently strong for years. However, this year, polls suggest that the gap is even more pronounced, with women strongly favoring Kamala Harris and men leaning towards Donald Trump."
Dana Bash, co-host, concurred and pointed out that the Democrats are employing a new strategy compared to their previous approach when a woman was their presidential nominee.
"The gender gap exists, and the Democratic Party has been rallying around a woman at the top of the ticket for the past month. This is the only other time they have done so, which was in 2016. Notably, the party has been learning how to confront Donald Trump as the opponent to a woman. The campaigns in 2016 and now are very different, with different female candidates."
Democrats are attempting to win over men who may not be as traditionally masculine as their Republican counterparts, according to Bash.
She stated that they are attempting to present male figures, such as Tim Walz and Doug Emhoff, who can connect with men who may not fit the stereotype of being testosterone-laden, gun-toting individuals who want to listen to Hulk Hogan and the type of players who appeared at the RNC or those who might be interested in that.
"Additionally, it's important to recognize that in 2024, being a man who is comfortable in his own skin and supports a woman is acceptable, and this is something they are working on with male voters beyond the base."
Tapper concurred, recalling their earlier conversation about the "various interpretations of masculinity in 2024 and the portrayal of the RNC as 'testosterone-y' with Kid Rock, Dana White, and Hulk Hogan."
