CNN political director predicts potential hurdle for Harris in key states due to lower support among White male voters.
In Georgia, Harris is struggling to win over White college-educated voters, according to Chalian.
A recent CNN poll revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris is facing challenges in winning the support of non-college-educated White men in six key battleground states, which one analyst believes could have serious consequences.
"In Michigan and Wisconsin, Harris has the advantage, while Trump has the advantage in Arizona. However, the race is still very close, as evidenced by the fact that they are essentially tied in key battlegrounds such as Nevada, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, 60 days before the election."
David Chalian, CNN's political director, analyzed the polls regarding race and education.
""White voters without college degrees are a Trump base constituency, and their large numbers indicate trouble for Harris. In Georgia, Harris is not performing well with White college-educated voters, and she may want to improve her standing with this group in battleground states," Chalian said."
CNN's political director pointed out that Black voters strongly back Harris.
In Michigan, 86% of Black voters support Harris, while 11% support Trump. In Georgia, 85% of Black voters support Harris, and in Pennsylvania, 84% of Black voters support Harris.
"In Pennsylvania in 2020, Joe Biden received 92% of the Black vote, leaving room for Kamala Harris to strengthen her support among this demographic. This is crucial for her to secure victories in key swing states like Georgia and Pennsylvania."
Chalian also commented on the stark gender gap in polls.
In these states, female likely voters have a 17-point lead for Harris in Wisconsin, a 16-point lead in Michigan, and the lead gets narrowed down to 1 point in Arizona, according to the speaker.
The "flipside," Chalian said, is with male voters who oppose Biden.
"Donald Trump's advantage with male voters is significant, with an 18-point lead in Nevada and a 15-point advantage in Pennsylvania. This gender gap is a crucial factor in determining the outcome of the election, as Harris has an advantage with women. The winner of this battle could extend their advantage and have a significant impact on the election results in battleground states."
The news host concluded that a crucial gut check for both campaigns is what is being revealed in multiple states on multiple levels.
