On Wednesday, a CNN report revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris is employing imagery of former President Trump's border wall, despite previously denouncing it as "useless" and un-American.
Erin Burnett OutFront host Erin Burnett discussed with CNN's KFile senior editor Andrew Kaczynski how Harris' past remarks about Trump's border wall are resurfacing to negatively impact her campaign.
Kaczynski discovered 50 instances of Harris criticizing Trump's border wall, but now her campaign is showcasing the border wall in advertisements.
In her 2019 book, "The Truths We Hold," Kamala Harris wrote that the wall was "useless" and would be a "monument standing in opposition to not just everything I value, but to the fundamental values upon which this country was built." Harris also argued that the wall symbolically tells the world "KEEP OUT."
In a 20169 public event clip, Harris criticized the border wall as a "vanity project" and accused Trump of fabricating a national crisis to distract from his personal agenda.
The border wall in Harris' ad was constructed during the Trump administration, as Kaczynski pointed out.
The wall built by Donald Trump in an area where there was no previous wall was a contentious issue at the time of construction, as he stated.
Burnett queried, "Is she utilizing the wall he constructed to display her accomplishments?"
Kaczynski speculated that other images of the wall in the ad may have "telltale signs" of being constructed under Trump's administration because they featured anti-climbing plates on top that became popular during the Trump era.
